Hi Hannah,
pleasure was mine. I feel like I have gained a good deal of clarity in the process. I look forward to carrying looking and reporting about how the experiencing is going on. Thanks again.

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
you say- 'There are moments of clarity. It feels lighter to be able to see that the separate self is an unnecessary assumption.'
Would you describe it as a conclusion that there CAN'T be a self (since you haven't found one) and now you are looking at things from this standpoint of view? Or would ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Talk me through how you are using the word 'selfing' here.
what is 'selfing'?
I use selfing to describe the ongoing activity of thinking where “I,me” is the main content of the thoughts. “I have to wake up early tomorrow”. This kind of thinking, if/ when left unnoticed and unquestioned, seems to ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
So the answer here is yes, there are boundaries to this presence/stillness, but they are 'blurry'?
So tell me about these blurry boundaries in detail, describe what they consist of, what is the experience of that? Are these blurry boundaries made of sensations? images? thoughts?

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
But just checking about the nature of this presence/stillness as it appears now, sit quietly and be clear on what you mean by those terms- then answer these very simply, yes/no answers are is fine but if yes give me more detail.
Is this in any way boundaried? No, boundaries are blurry

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
is that 'time' that those thoughts refer to a real thing existing- 'TIME' ? Or all just more interpretation/imagination?
Thoughts are about imaginary places, all sorts except the “here-now”.
Felt by what?
Where does the unpleasantness end and the feeling of it begin?
Take a fresh look.

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
So what 'i/me mine' thoughts are happening right now? Now look at some other part of the current experience, a tree, the sky a chair whatever holds some interest- what thoughts arise about that?
Whilst doing this maybe going back and forth for a bit let me know if anything is happenning making the ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Apparently men think about sex quite alot. Does that make the ideas about sex more 'solid?'
Look again, is there anything else going on, maybe with sensations that makes the I thoughts seem different to other thoughts?
Let’s see. For example, the idea “ I have a cold”. In that instance, there are ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Let's look at this 'solid quality'. Can a thought/mental formation/idea (which is not physical right?) have a 'solid quality'?
What is actually happening here that makes those ideas different to other ideas/images?
So those ideas appear as having “a solid quality” but they don’t have. But as they ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Where do words/images/thoughts come from, can it be seen a thought image appearing from something like a subconcious?
Well, in direct experience, what can only be seen is thoughts/ images appearing. Where from? no idea; to label this process as coming from the subconscious is one possibility but ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Where and what is this undiscovered place? Then we can look together...
Sometimes ideas about 'the subconcious' can be part of this. Let me know if that's the case here.
I’ve no issue with what we label ‘subconscious” as the processes that are going on offline so to say.

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Are the memory images more 'factual' than the 'fiction' of remembering the movie? What about the experience itself proves that?
No, those images are just what they are as they occur: images.
So so far negative findings, but lack of confidence. So what else needs to happen? Is there an idea of a ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
Ok. So this sabre tooth tiger that can't be seen, tasted, touched, heard or felt in any way right now. Where is the possibility it is still there?
Is it invisible?
Is it living on another plane of existence?
How would that work?
It could exist now but somewhere else (next room): alright just ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
And can that thought 'i'm trying to control this again' actually control anything?
No. There’s some tensing in the body occurring but thoughts and movements keep on happening on their own.
does this chatter of thoughts ever stop? even for a moment? What about when engrossed in an activity? when ...

Re: Seeing (thru) the ego
thats not a feeling, that's the idea associated with the constricted/tension feeling
'I can't let it go'.
'that's mine'
Can the difference be clearly seen?
Yes, 2 different realms when they are closely looked at; the thought is occurring just after the sensation (may be before ?).
