Dear Rali,
And just now wondering why I have been so out of it and attributing it to the post surgery hormone fluctuations. And realizing that’s a thought. And that the hot flashes are awful. But that’s a value judgement thought. The sensation is just a pure feeling and nothing more.
I got up and grabbed a cookie just now. Thought displays cookie image and then body went and got one. But I don’t see any actual decision or choice, only what happened. And that it happened is only a thought. There's only this now.
Much Love,
K
No, I don’t see a separate self at all, anywhere. I don’t see one in the past either (which would be thought anyway).1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
The illusion of separate self is the thought that there is something graspable or pointable to or describable that is a ‘me’ separate from a ‘you’. I don't see one. It never existed. Any apparent separate self is only a thought.2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
Clear. Simple. Comfortable.3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.
Redoing these questions.4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

Decision is the label of an action that thought falsely reports that it takes. Choice is a similar false label.5) a) Describe decision & give examples from experience.
I got up and grabbed a cookie just now. Thought displays cookie image and then body went and got one. But I don’t see any actual decision or choice, only what happened. And that it happened is only a thought. There's only this now.
Intention is a thought-plan for the future but there’s only this, no future aside from that imagined.b) Describe intention & give examples from experience.
Free will insinuates there is an ‘I’ that can take action as desired. Looking directly I see there is no I and things just arise in the senses. There is no ‘why’ or ‘I’. I don’t see free will.c) Describe free will & give examples from experience.
Control would be the ability to make things happen if that ability existed.d) Describe control & give examples from experience.
Looking now there is the seen colors and shapes, rather flat, infringing on the body which is equally part of it. Sounds, existing with the seen. (Body) sensation, merging with the others. Thought intertwining with it all. Nothing is making it happen and there is nothing stopping it from happening. Happening just happens.e) What makes things happen? How does it work?
I don’t see anything that I can say for sure I am responsible for. There is no I to be responsible for it anyway.f) What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.
I hope this is way more real than last time! It feels more clean.6) Anything to add?
Much Love,
K

Hey Kristine
The same guide ask a more specific question but consider both when answering:
What ist the difference between normal looking and direct looking? How works the switch from one mode to the other?

Re: 10,000Things
Dear Rali,
Normal looking is thought focused. Direct looking appears as non-localized sensation/is-ness.
The separate self is a thought illusion of no substance. The thought arises without instigation, for no reason. How does the separate self arise?
What is the difference between normal looking and direct looking?
Normal looking is thought focused. Direct looking appears as non-localized sensation/is-ness.
The separate self can’t make the switch happen because it doesn’t exist or have agency. Direct looking just happens or it doesn’t. It’s always available. Because it is.How works the switch from one mode to the other?

Hi Kristine
Welcome home!
It appears that the Gateless Gate has been crossed, but as you know there is no Gate, no one to cross it, and no end to the journey. It has been such a pleasure to walk beside you! Your openness and willingness to look were simply awesome and made guiding you a joy. Of course it is not necessarily the end of our conversation.
There have been no more questions for you, which means that you will receive an email notifying you of a PM from the forum, inviting you to join LU's Facebook groups. It also has other information that might be of interest to you. I will inbox you my contact details if you want to stay in touch. If you have any questions, just ask, or you can drop a line on your thread here and I will respond.
Your username will change from green to blue. This thread will be moved to the ‘Archive’ section of the forum, but you will be able to access it.
Please don’t forget that this is just the beginning of exploring. It’s the beginning of cleaning up of all sorts of old beliefs. Emotions and feelings can show up to be seen and felt, so don’t stop looking! Please feel free to contact me, so we can have a look together, if you like.
You can also consider being a guide, if you’re willing to explore it, when you feel ready. It can be very rewarding and it help you deepen your understanding.
We have a couple of support groups that are meeting via teleconference, which you will be able to access once your name has turned blue, join in any group discussions on FB, or make use of LU online support groups run by senior guides free of charge.
There are three of those, and they meet on Zoom – do contact the organisers for extra info, links and schedules:
Vince runs one on Wednesdays and weekends. Contact: vinceschubert@gmail.com
Ilona holds a monthly meeting. Contact: admin@ilonaciunaite.com
You can also explore the ten Fetters, which is a structured way of approaching beliefs:
Kevin Shinilac has instructions on his site https://www.simplytheseen.com/
Pernille Damore and Todd Lent https://www.youtube.com/@TheAwakeningCurriculum

Re: 10,000Things
Thank you so much Rali for the time you have spent with me. Each time I received one of your posts I was touched by your heart, your generosity, and your clarity. I have hugely enjoyed the process (even though it was challenging at times!!) and have learned much more than ever expected. Someday when I feel ready I will pass on the kindness as a guide to someone else.
“I will inbox you my contact details if you want to stay in touch.”
Yes please, does that mean I have an inbox on the site somewhere?
Thank you for the various links and contacts, all sound interesting, I have already followed up on some of them today. I am familiar with Kevin’s fetter approach and am reading a book by someone else about it at the moment. Ever fascinating!
Much love,
K
