Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Hi Luchana,
Yes, that would be nice if you recommended another guide. But only if you think I won't drive them crazy! Haha!
Love, Fritz

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Yes, I am separate from that reality. I believe that others are able to see the separate self as false, and that is great for them, but I do not share that insight. However I think it is good for Humanity that so many can see it.Are you separate from that reality?

Fritz

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
What has occurred to me over the last several days is a thought I'd never entertained before: even if the belief in the separate self never falls away on its own in THIS particular body-mind, it HAS done so for many others! I live on a planet where thousands of people have lost the belief in ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Just feel the pain of it, and know that even that feeling is the very life you are seeking to live.
Yes, the pain of not 'Seeing' is no less sacred than anything else. I have come to accept that I will not see clearly in this lifetime, will not see through the illusion of separation. That pain ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
"What would I be without the belief that I’m someone?”
That would be wonderful! Getting rid of the belief that I am someone is the goal of spiritual practice.
It seems to me that someone who asks me to ask such a question must believe that I am IN FAVOR of being a separate self. That somehow I ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Is there any actual thing that is “me”?
I know my answer is not typical of the Liberation Unleashed community. I know that what I'm SUPPOSED to say is "I assumed the Self was real, but when I really seriously questioned it, I found that it was just a series of thoughts that had solidified into a ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Yes. I can feel it, the way I can feel gravity, or love. I can't describe it or define it further. Words are not adequate because this sense is prior to all words. It is even prior to thought. Thoughts only arise after the sense of me.Is there any actual thing that is “me”?

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Now look directly: in that immediate, vivid alive-ness, is there a center?
No, I don't find a center.
Then what is it, without any reference to the story?
It is 'me'. I can't define it further than that.
That felt aliveness—does it need to belong to anyone?
No
If there’s no boundary, and ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Hi Luchana,
Good. Now look exactly where that “I” feeling is.
Don’t touch a thought. Don’t describe it. Feel it.
Right now.
Is there any thing there that owns or generates that feeling?
No, there isn't any thing that owns or generates that feeling. It is basic, primal, alone, not dependent on ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Is there an actual thing there? Something with borders, with substance? Or is it just a dense clump of sensation and thoughts ABOUT it?
Borders? No, can't find any. Substance? Yes, it feels pretty Substantial. Dense clump of sensation? That might be accurate. The main point is that it feels REAL ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
In the same way that the feeling of love is beautiful and meaningful, but doesn't necessarily define a permanent, objective truth outside of experience, the feeling of self doesn't necessarily confirm a fixed, separate entity.
For me the feeling of self DOES confirm a fixedl separate entity. It's ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
There is a feeling,YES.
But how it is known that this feeling is a self, you?
Does a feeling suggest anything?
Be gentle and curious with it.
Does the feeling know anything?
Where the conviction comes from?
Love,
Luchana

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Good. Now, the question is
HOW CAN YOU SEE SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EXIST?
Stay with the question for a day or two, use it as a koan.
Let me know what you find.
I FEEL the Self. That's how I know it exists. I always wonder why people ask "Can you see the Self?" because of course you can't. You ...

Re: Seeing the illusion of self
Is there a problem with feeling that?
I suppose there really isn't a problem with feeling that I am a self. If I had never read anything about Nonduality, or Liberation Unleashed, or all that spiritual stuff, I wouldn't report a problem with not seeing that there is no self. I would just assume ...
