After Initial Awakening: In the Middle of Unbinding and Confusion

Postby Pete86 » Tue Jul 29, 2025 5:45 am

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this? I guess it means to mean, that I'm not my conditions or beliefs that I thought I was, the ego structure.

What are you looking for at LU? I've had an Initial awakening two week ago, I have days where I just become very confused. Yesterday I felt so sick of and tired of one of my mean identities, it's one that wants to be seen a certain away, as wise and many other things. Some days are very easy and pleasant but I find it hard to let go days it's tough. I feel kind crazy talking about this, but I would really appreciate help with this, t

What do you expect from a guided conversation? To be honest, I’m not really sure what to expect. But I’m very willing to follow the guidance and really listen to someone who’s been through this and can point things out to me. I feel open and ready, even if I don’t fully know what this process will involve yet.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry? I do true meditation and self-inquiry — some days, but not every day. I only had an initial awakening two weeks ago, and I didn’t really know much about spiritual awakening until about three weeks ago.

So, within a week of practicing self-inquiry, I had what I now understand was an initial awakening. I’m still new to all of this — I’m not overly familiar with spiritual practices or the deeper teachings.

Right now, I feel like I’m in the middle of something loosening or unbinding, but also some confusion. That’s why I’m here — I’d love to connect with others who understand this space or can offer some pointers as things unfold.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 10

Good morning,

At LU we only guide up to this initial awakening, which you may have already had. After that, we offer some teleconference groups and possibly work with the 10 Fetters, which you can find in a couple of places. I like Pernille & Todd Lent Damore's videos on YouTube and their groups. I also like The Work of Byron Katie for questioning untrue thoughts. Everything you need is on her web site and she does weekly teleconferences.

So, if you like, we can move ahead to our checkpoint questions to see if there is anything left to look at before we would recommend further work elsewhere. Would you like to answer those?

You are not crazy. This is all very normal. Here are a couple of videos that may help. Watch these, please:

This is just a beginning.

Much love,

Hi, thank you very much for getting back to me — I really appreciate your time and the things you suggested. I’ve watched both of the videos you shared, and I found them really helpful.

I’d be very interested in going through the checkpoint questions. Thanks again for your guidance and support — really, thank you.

You're welcome. That's great. Here they are.

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?

2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.

3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.

4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

5) Describe decision & give examples from experience.

Describe intention & give examples from experience.

Describe free will & give examples from experience.

Describe choice & give examples from experience.

Describe control & give examples from experience.

What makes things happen? How does it work?

What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.

6) Anything to add?

Please use the Quote function & answer each one separately.
Below is a link to the video with instructions on using the Quote Function. Please watch it. Use the PREVIEW button to make sure your text looks right before you hit "SUBMIT."

From my first post:

One thing that is helpful is to come to this forum
& post every day. Sometimes the site goes down. It will be back. Just come back later.
