i was looking at this philosophical and spiritual stuff a few years ago but i couldn't make any sense of it so i basically gave up. however since finding this forum recently i thought i might give it another go and see if it's maybe possible to discover whether the self is actually real or not. i understand from science and so on that nothing has ever been found in the brain that could be called a self, but of course i feel like there is a me here behind the scenes making things happen.

what do you think, do you want to take a swing at this? i am happy to work in this thread, or if you are short of time, we can do the 3-on-1 thing. it's good either way i reckon.
