LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
My understanding is that through lifelong conditioning, there is mind activity that constructs a sense of separation that we call the self. By looking at what is happening, this construct can collapse.
What are you looking for at LU?
I'm looking for someone to direct my investigation into what's appearing so that I can find clarity. There is confusion here and I'd like that confusion to be seen through. I'd love for this to be finally over!
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
I know there are different styles of guidance. I understand that the guide will keep pointing me back to what's appearing in my experience. I've read that it's a hardcore approach and I do appreciate that.
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I've been looking at my experience for two years now since an initial awakening. There have a number of perceptual shifts, and with each shift my thoughts become more transparent and what isn't thought becomes more immediate. There is the sensation that something is still in the way, and as I write these words my awareness falls on it. There is a constant shroud of mind activity that's appearing like an overlay in my visual field. It distorts everything and is disorientating. It is also the case that I can *feel* the open clarity beyond it, and it's from this place that I can observe the distortion.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?
