LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
The inherent 'Self' is a thought referencing a 'Me', 'I', 'Self' etc, and contained in a thought’s story line. Thoughts are only labels (nouns and verbs) generated by the mind from a body's perceptions or from other thoughts. Thoughts have no substance and are not inherently real so, 'Self' as a label within a thought, has no inherent reality.
What are you looking for at LU?
Explanation and/or guidance on confusion at the gate or just after crossing the gate.
A shift occurred while reading Gateless Gatecrashers which resulted in a realisation that thoughts are composed of illusory contents. “Self” being a content of thought must also be illusory. After joy experienced by seeing the "cosmic joke" subsided, the self could no longer be found by direct looking.
Life has changed significantly since this experience and for days it was assumed that Gate had been crossed. However, on several occasions when being personally attacked (verbally), there has been triggering of feelings which are assumed to be associated with a resident "Me".
I would like LU to help me either cross the Gate effectively or otherwise explain what is happening if possible.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
Clarity and guidance on what is happening to the "Self" when it appears that the Gate has been crossed.
The questions that seem relevant are;
Has the Gate been crossed?
Are the current experiences normal after crossing?
Are there any resources available to help after crossing the Gate?
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
40+ years of spiritual practice. Practices in time order are; Rosicrucian (AMORC), Tolle, Dzogchen, Greg Goode, Nisargadatta, Maharshi, Sailor Bob Adamson, Liberation Unleashed.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?

Re: Experiencing the “Self” after crossing the Gate
Thank you very much for sending all the references Stacy, they have made a world of difference to my understanding of what is going on.
In case it could help other readers, I was not sure if I had actually crossed the gate after experiencing a major shift while reading Gateless Gatecrashers. The shift had made me laugh out loud as I suddenly realized that the "I" was only a thought without substance.
The following days were spent in what I could call a state of confusion knowing that something had changed but not sure what. I concluded that I may have crossed the gate but asked LU for clarification. I asked LU (Stacy) for advice and received an impressive list of references.
Before I received the references, I had suddenly changed from confusion to feeling like a very ordinary person and concluded that I had been wrong about the gate.
The next day, the references arrived and I spent a solid day going through them. The next morning at about 2am I awoke into semi-wakefulness and saw with complete certainty that the self did not exist. The finish to the story was that I went out for morning coffee and while waiting for the coffee to be made I was consumed by a very intense feeling of Love which applied to myself and every one else in the shop. This feeling persisted long after I finished my coffee and the residue is still with me.
I now assume, with the help of the references that this is all part of "Falling".
Thank you very much again Stacy, I think you have covered all my needs.
Fond regards
Ian
