Re: Seeking to see the no-self
I think I am getting it, often times it happens when the mind is quiet and I realize movement is happening all the time without thought, I'm looking at it instead of thinking about it.
I've also bought Ilona's book 'Liberation Unleashed', that has been helping a lot, and I will look into the book you mentioned. The study you mention also provides a lot of insight, proving that the body and brain are doing what it does outside the realm of 'thought', thinking is just plastered on top of it.

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
Excellent!
We are looking for ca shift in perception.
So, here is a pointer that may force you to look, not think:
ButtChair
Please LOOK for any place where your butt ends & the chair begins.
Is there any clear dividing line between them? Or only the Sensation with no clear division?
It is simple direct & nonverbal. Just LOOK.
Then write what is true.
I did only this and nothing else for 3 months and then saw. It crept up on me while I was sitting at a stoplight. Seeing often happens when we are simply relaxed and looking. I should say, it ONLY happens when we are relaxed and LOOKING. All of this thinking is useless. Truly.

Did this quite a few times, the only answer I can come up with is there's no division border, just the sensation of pressureIs there any clear dividing line between them? Or only the Sensation with no clear division?

Yes, exactly.
How does it FEEL to see this?
Are you aware if any tension or relaxation?

Honestly I don't feel anything about it, it's just is and I'm ok with that. There was mental tension initially in having to find a dividing line, but just looking and accepting there's a sensation there feels ok.

Keep checking your gut until you identify a Sensation.
It's there in every human being. It's important.

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
I've been trying it, maybe I'm overthinking it because I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling. When I stop thinking there's a feeling of peace, quiet and oneness as I just look at the sensation, I don't know if that's what I'm supposed to feel or not.

Lies are usually felt in the heart or solar plexus as a contraction that we may label as tight, heavy or tense.
In contrast, truth is usually expansive. We may call it loose, light or relaxed.
We're looking for a shift in perception.
From an email from Ilona
Nothing dramatic happened.
There were no fireworks.
No permanent bliss states.
No sudden personality changes.
And yet, something shifted.
Here are a few things people said afterwards:
“I’m not fighting my experience anymore. There’s more space around everything.”
“I expected something big to happen. Instead, life feels simpler and I trust myself more.”
“There’s less urgency. The seeking has softened.”
This is the kind of shift this work supports.

Yes. Thinking is not helpful at all. Just LOOK.When I stop thinking there's a feeling of peace, quiet and oneness as I just look at the sensation,

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
So I've been having an interesting time lately, I've been reading Ilona's book Liberation unleashed, really enjoying the stories as well as beginning to try out the Deep Looking exercises, as I have noticed a lot of 'Falling' happening to me recently.
I'm still in the process of continuing to look, there is still more to uncover.
However, I also have noticed there seems to be a rebound effect, or perhaps just pure conditioning where I can suddenly be swept away in the current of the 'I' story, along with it's incessant dialogue and constrictive emotions. That being said, I find myself suddenly snapping out of it as well, it can definitely feel real for a moment, but the next just vanish, I go even further and ask 'well, who was so upset?'' who is this happening to?'
Some of it falls away on it's own, some I have tried working with the Deep Looking.

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
This may go on for months or even years. Again, this is only the beginning. Only 3 of 10 Fetters.still in the process of continuing to look, there is still more to uncover.
This is a list of the 10 Fetters:
The assumptions or interpretations are in a nutshell:
1. Belief in a ‘me’, an ‘I’ or a separate self that thinks, experiences, acts, chooses, decides and acts.
2. Doubt whether what you believe is right.
3. Belief that practicing rites and rituals will give you what you want and make you permanently happy.
4. and 5. Pushing and pulling at what is, believing there is wanting and not wanting that force you to do always look for what gives you the most pleasure.
6. Believing in a subject-object split
7. Believing that you are perceiving a world with things in time and space.
8. Believing in the subtle sense of 'I am/I exist'.
9. Restlessly searching for something that is substantial and permanent, and will make you reliably happy.
10. Ignoring the fact that there is nothing substantial and permanent that can make you reliably happy.
Christiane Michelberger guides through the Ten Fetters. www.findingawakening.com She has a waiting list.
She also recently published a book including both her story & instructions:

Can you say 100% there's is no separate self? (even if there is still "falling.")
How does it FEEL to see this?

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
100%? If I am completely honest I would say no, I am not quite at that point. I can verify it for myself, but there is still lingering doubt, this really hit home:Can you say 100% there's is no separate self? (even if there is still "falling.")
How does it FEEL to see this?
8. Believing in the subtle sense of 'I am/I exist'.
It is obvious when looking, but there are nagging beliefs remaining as well. In moments of looking and just being, there is a calm, free feeling, there is just doing and experiencing, there is a feeling of contentment that has eluded me for most of my life
I also want to say thank you for the explanation of the fetters and links! I went ahead and bought the book, I am thoroughly enjoying this process, I want to continue to go deeper into this journey, thank you for your continued help!

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
You're welcome.
We only guide through 3 here. When you've had that shift we have some traditional questions.. Other guides will read your answers and may have questions.
Then I'll share some information on Fetter groups that will go farther
Have you had a shift in perception? Even subtle, as I posted last Monday?

Yes, it is remarkable how much quieter and calm everything is, I used to be very anxious and overthink everything.Have you had a shift in perception? Even subtle, as I posted last Monday?

Are you ready to answer our checkpoint questions?
If so. here they are:
1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.
4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?
5) Describe decision & give examples from experience.
Describe intention & give examples from experience.
Describe free will & give examples from experience.
Describe choice & give examples from experience.
Describe control & give examples from experience.
What makes things happen? How does it work?
What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.
6) Anything to add?

Re: Seeking to see the no-self
ooh, these are really interesting questions, do you mind if I wait until I have time on Thursday to answer? At first glance some of these would appear to be thinking questions, but then it occurred to approach them by just looking instead.
