Mindfulness Junky Explores Non Dual

Postby OptimistOwl » Fri Aug 21, 2026 3:08 am

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
That what we beleive as a self is an illusion constructed by thought. Thought arises like all other sensations, by itself, uncontrolled by a self.

What are you looking for at LU?
Guidance, support, motivation to practice and inquire on a consistent basis.

I think I understand non duality conceptually (from the mind). I have had no luck in reading / listening to non duality content to affect my experience. It only fuels my desire to seek. I need direct advice to pierce me 1-1.
What do you expect from a guided conversation? I think I need to be called out on any “bullshit” for lack of a better word. Accountability / motivation for checking in and writing. I am a people pleaser so I find it difficult to interact without smoothing over what I say, I hope a conversation will help me be more authentic with myself and others in how I present my experience.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I have been on three retreats at Satipanya, Wales, UK, they teach and practice Mahasi Vipassana meditation.
I practiced mindfulness meditation for two-three years at home. The past year I’ve tried to rest in the sense of I am, in consciousness (space between thoughts) and understanding the texture of thoughts.
More recently I went on a non dual retreat by Angelo DiLullo in the UK.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?
