Looking is happening automatically. You don't have to do a thing

Try this one. Report how it FEELS to SEE.

Doership Exercise

You see that there is no self to be found. Now let’s have a look at the feeling of being a 'doer’.

Take a few relaxed breaths to let the dust settle for a while, and then: Look on your right.

Then look on your left.

Finally, bring your head back to centre, close your eyes and look in front.

Okay, so when you look on the right, the view on the right is seen (whatever that is).

When you look on the left, the view on the left is seen (whatever that is).

And then, when you look in front of you with eyes closed, the view in front is seen (ie ‘black space’).

So, when the view on the right is seen, do you have the ‘choice’ not to see? I’m not asking can you ‘choose’ to see something else like another view or ‘black space’ if you close your eyes. The question is; can you turn seeing off?

Can you NOT see what is seen?

Same thing with the view on the left, can you NOT see the view on the left?

Same thing with the view in front with closed eyes, can you NOT see the ‘black space’?

Can you turn off seeing?

What did the 'chooser' choose?

Did a 'self' choose something?

If you are unable to choose what you're aware of, then what else is there to choose?

No I can't turn seeing off because it happens automatically.
Can you NOT see what is seen?
No
Same thing with the view on the left, can you NOT see the view on the left?
No
Same thing with the view in front with closed eyes, can you NOT see the ‘black space’?
No
Can you turn off seeing?
No
What did the 'chooser' choose?
I didn't choose what to see or not see. It was already there.
Did a 'self' choose something?
No
If you are unable to choose what you're aware of, then what else is there to choose?
Nothing
Try this one. Report how it FEELS to SEE.
It's the idea/concept that there is someone here doing the seeing that's the problem. But that's what the pointer is about. I don't do the seeing. How does it feel to see that? I'm not sure.

How does it feel to see that?
I'm not sure.
Relax into it until you know.
What at?
There is only SEEING - no subject no object. That's the point of some of the pointers.

Thus you should see that
indeed there is no thing here;
this, Bahiya, is how you should train yourself.
Since, Bahiya, there is for you
in the seen, only the seen,
in the heard, only the heard,
in the sensed, only the sensed,
in the cognized, only the cognized,
and you see that there is no thing here,
you will therefore see that
indeed there is no thing there.
As you see that there is no thing there,
you will see that
you are therefore located neither in the world of this,
nor in the world of that,
nor in any place
betwixt the two.
This alone is the end of suffering.

Loving,

Still me. Thinking has been busy trying to help with seeing that there is no me. Yesterday there was the tiniest moment where it was very very briefly seen that the me idea isn't even that. But today there is a strong sense of me.

Well. you can't be "still me."

You do not exist & have never existed. There was never a "me."

You're hallucinating & lying to yourself. Check your gut. It's tight, isn't it?

It's like you're insisting that there's a Santa Claus. Once you see that for yourself, you will never believe it again.

Stacy is awareness, being aware, a feature of seeing that the me isn't real? Is awareness an important part of looking? Does looking mean being aware?

Awareness just is. It's not part of anything. You can't turn it off.

My favorite definition of reality is anything that doesn't go away when you stop thinking about it.
