Dear Stacy,
Just a quick note to check-in and to check whether what I am doing is okay.
I am paying attention to other parts of the body meeting different objects in the same spirit as with the ‘butt exercise’. For example, my shoulder or elbow on the mattress; my cheek on the pillow; my feet on the bathroom tiles when I’m brushing my teeth; my should blades against the back of the couch; my bum on the bicycle seat … and so on. Mostly I am finding that I cannot ascertain a clear dividing line – sometimes it appears that the body part merges with the object, or vice versa.
If okay, I’ll keep doing this but may not post that much – just to let you know that my 100(and a half)-year old mother is dying – it’s all fine but obviously quite involving.
Hope you are well.
Love,
Ruth

Hi Ruth

No. This is not a survey if body parts. This is a simple, quiet meditation on one fact, that there is only one Sensation with no division
am finding that I cannot ascertain a clear dividing line –
Yes. Don't go looking for variety. I know it's boring - until it isn't. Be curious & fascinated.

I will share these other meditations pointers. Be sure to listen to the Introduction.

Thank you, Stacy!
I will proceed as suggested. I'm fine with boring ...
and will do the meditation when I can

Hi Stacy,
Thanks for checking in. The last weeks were very busy with our dear mother dying peacefully Wednesday 27th. Afterwards I managed to attend an intensive short sesshin in a beautiful retreat centre in Southern Germany - a former Benedictine monastery with a focus on contemplation and Zen and much else. They also have a rule on maintaining silence. The silence and the need/desire just to sit and meditate were provided in this way. Very beneficial.
I came back to Edinburgh last night (so now on UK time although it only makes a difference of one hour).
In other respects I have observed the exercise - as much as I could or remembered - and can report that there doesn't appear to be a clear division between my butt and whatever object I'm sitting on.
I have managed to listen and follow the first two meditation sessions on the link you sent and found them beneficial too (I did listen to the introduction, as instructed). The suggestion that everything is "God" appears very liberating. And I could see that a recognition of a thought arrives with a delay.
So far my short report (apologies).
I'm expecting a visitor today so may not be able to respond until next week.
Warm regards
Ruth
