I’m ready for clarity!

Postby Puppet » Thu Jan 18, 2024 10:16 pm

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?

That there’s no separate me standing apart , making decisions, no thinker, no doer. No reason for guilt, shame or blame

What are you looking for at LU?

I’m looking to see that there is no me.
To move part blame and shame. To feel lighter and not second guess everything. To flow more with life. To see for myself what sages have pointed to. But really simply to know and feel freedom.

What do you expect from a guided conversation?

Once a day correspondence pointing me towards the truth of no self. To be shown where to look and how to look.
To have somebody guide me who knows what they’re doing so I’m not wasting time.
A thorough look at all the places I feel like a self. Body, thoughts, decisions, feelings etc.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?

I’ve tried ayahuasca ceremonies, meditation, self inquiry.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 11

Good morning,

I am here to help you see through the illusion of a separate self.
I invite you to agree with some rules used here :

Read the disclaimer text here :
http://liberationunleashed.com/disclaimer-2/

Post at least once a day, or every second day to maintain the flow of LOOKING AT Direct Experience.

This inquiry is based on DE :seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching or sensations. Don't lean on thoughts or memory when you give answers. Thoughts are used to communicate.

Be 100% honest in your answers and inquiry.

Put aside all other teachings, books, videos, about this staff.

Learn how to use the Quote Function here :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=-fAToDNh9hQ

If you are OK with what is said above, let me know.

Best wishes
Warissem

Hi

You are welcome to the forum. What is a name I can call you?

Let's give a look to your expectations about the investigation. After seeing through the illusion of a separate self :

How do you expect to change ?

Is life going to change?

What will be different?

What are you seeking ? What is missing?

I wish you good time

Hello Warrisem

You can call me Puppet.
If that is difficult I’ll use another name
How do you expect to change ?
I will no longer doubt myself or feel blame
Is life going to change?
No. But how I react to events will.
What will be different?
I’ll see that without a separate self there’s no suffering
What are you seeking ? What is missing?
I want to be free of feeling I’ve to get things right, control my life, fix situations.
What is missing is an ease. Accepting life happens and I don’t do any of it

Warm wishes

Puppet.

Good morning

The expectations are realistic. In this forum, you have to do the job of LOOKING AT DE, direct experience. It is the clue to make you SEE that there is no separate self, no you, no entity managing life. I will ask questions, you ponder on them and give answers through direct experience not from memory nor books. I will give you exercises to practice even they seem childish.

First, you need to be familiar with the practice of DE. It is seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching (or sensations); thinking is used to communicate here.
There is a difference between accumulated knowledge (memory) and what is here in plain view. Example :
Question : what is the color of the sky now?
There are two ways of answering :
1) You say "blue" through memory of the last time you have seen the sky or by guessing (it is known that it is a sunny day)
2) You get up, open the window and LOOK AT the sky, SEE its color and give the answer, this is what is called DE, direct experience here.

Direct experience is : LOOK AT and SEE, HEAR, SMELL, TASTE, FEEL sensations or textures, NOTICE thoughts (without leaning on their meaning).

Let me know if you are clear with what is meant by DE before continuing the process.

Best wishes

Here we are Puppet

Here's an exercise that I would like you to try as many times throughout the day as you can. Label daily activities simply colour/image, sound, smell, taste, sensation, thought.

So for example, when having breakfast, become aware of:-

Seeing a cup, simply= image/colour
Smelling coffee, simply = smell
Feeling the warmth of the coffee cup, simply = sensation
Tasting the coffee, simply = taste
Hearing the spoon stirring the coffee, simply = sound
Thought about drinking the coffee, simply = thought

Just break down daily activities into these categories (which are all actual/direct experience) and report back how you go.

Best wishes

Hi Warrisem

So I did this yesterday.
Interesting to watch the move away from direct experience and into thought over and over

There was a very real difference to the quality of experience when in direct experience rather than thinking about and labelling. I prefer the direct actual experience!

Hello again
What is arising when you read this : there is no you, no separate self in any shape or form, there never was, there never will be.
I feel relief. But I also notice that it feels like there’s a me feeling the relief.
If I stay with the feeling itself there is just the feeling.

Thank you

Hi
I feel relief. But I also notice that it feels like there’s a me feeling the relief.
Look at direct experience : is there a you, a me in the field of the five senses ?
If it is describe it for me.

If I stay with the feeling itself there is just the feeling.
Yes. How is this feeling expressed in the body?
Is there a you, a separate self doing the seeing?

PS : don't answer through logics, give time to looking at what is going on.

Best for you

Hello!

No not in the five senses.
The “me feeling” is separate from them
How is this feeling expressed in the body?
The feeling is like energy or sensations in the body. Relief feels like the body getting lighter
Is there a you, a separate self doing the seeing?
Sometimes it’s just the feeling or sound etc.
Other times it feels like I’m in my head noticing these senses

Thanks

PS you can call me John if that’s better.

Hi John
The feeling is like energy or sensations in the body. Relief feels like the body getting lighter
Yes, the feeling is a sensation + a thought. Does a sensation need a thought to be?
Does this sensation say "it is me here" ?
Just be aware that a sensation is a sensation : it can be labeled "me", "fear", "contraction", "pleasure" or whatever. Does the label change something to what is ?

Here is an exercise I invite you to do :

There is a belief that labels have a one-to-one correspondence with ‘reality’. But there isn’t. Just like it is a generally accepted belief that labels like ‘good’ and ‘bad’ are inherent characteristics of ‘things’. But actually, they are not.

When you look at the word label ‘GREEN’, what is the actual experience?

Is the colour red ‘experienced’, or is the colour green ‘experienced’ as the label suggests?

Does the label ‘GREEN’ have a one-to-one correspondence with ‘reality’? Or does the label suggest something else other than what is here now (red colour)?

Is 'green' associated in any way with the experience of the colour red; or is green just a label that overlays the actual experience of red?

If the label ‘GREEN’ is replaced with the label ‘GOOD’ or ‘BAD’, is the redness affected in any way as the labels suggests?

Does redness become ‘good’ or ‘bad’, or do the labels have no affect whatsoever on ‘reality’?

Sometimes it’s just the feeling or sound etc.
Other times it feels like I’m in my head noticing these senses
Where can this "I" be found in the head? Look at your head : see, hear, touch and tell me where is this "I" ?

Best for you

Hello again

…Does the label change something to what is?
No sensation and thought are separate
Thought labels sensations but it can’t actually know.
When you look at the word label ‘GREEN’, what is the actual experience?
Red!

Does the label ‘GREEN’ have a one-to-one correspondence with ‘reality’? Or does the label suggest something else other than what is here now (red colour)?
No it doesn’t and yes it suggests something other than what is here now
Is 'green' associated in any way with the experience of the colour red; or is green just a label that overlays the actual experience of red?
No Green isn’t associated in any way. It’s just an overlay
If the label ‘GREEN’ is replaced with the label ‘GOOD’ or ‘BAD’, is the redness affected in any way as the labels suggests?
No not at all
Does redness become ‘good’ or ‘bad’, or do the labels have no affect whatsoever on ‘reality’?
No effect on reality
Where can this "I" be found in the head? Look at your head : see, hear, touch and tell me where is this "I" ?
The I appears in thought. And feels real there.

Thanks
