LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
That there’s no separate me standing apart , making decisions, no thinker, no doer. No reason for guilt, shame or blame
What are you looking for at LU?
I’m looking to see that there is no me.
To move part blame and shame. To feel lighter and not second guess everything. To flow more with life. To see for myself what sages have pointed to. But really simply to know and feel freedom.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
Once a day correspondence pointing me towards the truth of no self. To be shown where to look and how to look.
To have somebody guide me who knows what they’re doing so I’m not wasting time.
A thorough look at all the places I feel like a self. Body, thoughts, decisions, feelings etc.
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I’ve tried ayahuasca ceremonies, meditation, self inquiry.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 11
I’m ready for clarity!

Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Hi
You are welcome to the forum. What is a name I can call you?
Let's give a look to your expectations about the investigation. After seeing through the illusion of a separate self :
How do you expect to change ?
Is life going to change?
What will be different?
What are you seeking ? What is missing?
I wish you good time

Hello Warrisem
You can call me Puppet.
If that is difficult I’ll use another name
What is missing is an ease. Accepting life happens and I don’t do any of it
Warm wishes

Good morning
The expectations are realistic. In this forum, you have to do the job of LOOKING AT DE, direct experience. It is the clue to make you SEE that there is no separate self, no you, no entity managing life. I will ask questions, you ponder on them and give answers through direct experience not from memory nor books. I will give you exercises to practice even they seem childish.
First, you need to be familiar with the practice of DE. It is seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching (or sensations); thinking is used to communicate here.
There is a difference between accumulated knowledge (memory) and what is here in plain view. Example :
Question : what is the color of the sky now?
There are two ways of answering :
1) You say "blue" through memory of the last time you have seen the sky or by guessing (it is known that it is a sunny day)
2) You get up, open the window and LOOK AT the sky, SEE its color and give the answer, this is what is called DE, direct experience here.
Direct experience is : LOOK AT and SEE, HEAR, SMELL, TASTE, FEEL sensations or textures, NOTICE thoughts (without leaning on their meaning).
Let me know if you are clear with what is meant by DE before continuing the process.
Best wishes

Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Here we are Puppet
Here's an exercise that I would like you to try as many times throughout the day as you can. Label daily activities simply colour/image, sound, smell, taste, sensation, thought.
So for example, when having breakfast, become aware of:-
Seeing a cup, simply= image/colour
Smelling coffee, simply = smell
Feeling the warmth of the coffee cup, simply = sensation
Tasting the coffee, simply = taste
Hearing the spoon stirring the coffee, simply = sound
Thought about drinking the coffee, simply = thought
Just break down daily activities into these categories (which are all actual/direct experience) and report back how you go.
Best wishes

Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Hi Warrisem
So I did this yesterday.
Interesting to watch the move away from direct experience and into thought over and over
There was a very real difference to the quality of experience when in direct experience rather than thinking about and labelling. I prefer the direct actual experience!

yes, great.
What is arising when you read this : there is no you, no separate self in any shape or form, there never was, there never will be.I prefer the direct actual experience!
Best for you
Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Hello again
If I stay with the feeling itself there is just the feeling.
Thank you
I feel relief. But I also notice that it feels like there’s a me feeling the relief. What is arising when you read this : there is no you, no separate self in any shape or form, there never was, there never will be.

Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Hi
If it is describe it for me.
Is there a you, a separate self doing the seeing?
PS : don't answer through logics, give time to looking at what is going on.
Best for you
Look at direct experience : is there a you, a me in the field of the five senses ?I feel relief. But I also notice that it feels like there’s a me feeling the relief.

Yes. How is this feeling expressed in the body?If I stay with the feeling itself there is just the feeling.
Is there a you, a separate self doing the seeing?

Best for you
Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Hello!
The “me feeling” is separate from them
Other times it feels like I’m in my head noticing these senses
Thanks
PS you can call me John if that’s better.
No not in the five senses.Look at direct experience : is there a you, a me in the field of the five senses ?
The “me feeling” is separate from them
The feeling is like energy or sensations in the body. Relief feels like the body getting lighterHow is this feeling expressed in the body?

Re: I’m ready for clarity!
Hi John
Does this sensation say "it is me here" ?
Just be aware that a sensation is a sensation : it can be labeled "me", "fear", "contraction", "pleasure" or whatever. Does the label change something to what is ?
Here is an exercise I invite you to do :
There is a belief that labels have a one-to-one correspondence with ‘reality’. But there isn’t. Just like it is a generally accepted belief that labels like ‘good’ and ‘bad’ are inherent characteristics of ‘things’. But actually, they are not.
When you look at the word label ‘GREEN’, what is the actual experience?
Is the colour red ‘experienced’, or is the colour green ‘experienced’ as the label suggests?
Does the label ‘GREEN’ have a one-to-one correspondence with ‘reality’? Or does the label suggest something else other than what is here now (red colour)?
Is 'green' associated in any way with the experience of the colour red; or is green just a label that overlays the actual experience of red?
If the label ‘GREEN’ is replaced with the label ‘GOOD’ or ‘BAD’, is the redness affected in any way as the labels suggests?
Does redness become ‘good’ or ‘bad’, or do the labels have no affect whatsoever on ‘reality’?
Best for you
Yes, the feeling is a sensation + a thought. Does a sensation need a thought to be?The feeling is like energy or sensations in the body. Relief feels like the body getting lighter

Hello again
Thought labels sensations but it can’t actually know.
Thanks
No sensation and thought are separateDoes a sensation need a thought to be?
Does this sensation say "it is me here" ?
…Does the label change something to what is?
Thought labels sensations but it can’t actually know.

No Green isn’t associated in any way. It’s just an overlayIs 'green' associated in any way with the experience of the colour red; or is green just a label that overlays the actual experience of red?
No not at allIf the label ‘GREEN’ is replaced with the label ‘GOOD’ or ‘BAD’, is the redness affected in any way as the labels suggests?
No effect on realityDoes redness become ‘good’ or ‘bad’, or do the labels have no affect whatsoever on ‘reality’?
The I appears in thought. And feels real there.Where can this "I" be found in the head? Look at your head : see, hear, touch and tell me where is this "I" ?
