It feels like nothing is real. I know it is just a thought, but it is a thought that keeps returning today. Like everything isn't what I thought it was for so long. Maybe it's peace, but it isn't what I "expected".Can you call this "peace" instead of loneliness ? It is empty of thoughts but it is full of presence knowing.
I felt confusion over what "direct experience" even meant. You corrected me many times in my answer, and it was so clear to you what was direct and what wasn't, yet it was so unclear to me. The moment that I could see the distinction was when there was recognition that thoughts come and go, and realize that they were just like any other sensation. This allowed me to stop looking so hard, which in turn made "looking" so much easier. Once I realized it wasn't something I needed to find, it allowed me to engage in the dialogue differently.4) What was the last bit that pushed you over; made you look?
Decisions, intentions, choice and control are all concepts. When I tried to trace down the exact moment that a "decision" was made, I could not find it. The "decision" was already caused by the moment before it, which was caused by the moment before it, which was caused by the moment before it. Any decision that it feels like "I" am making is a concept that was caused by one before it. These concepts and thoughts still often feel real, until I look closely, and look honestly, which is not my default state.5) a) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? Give examples from your own recent experiences to how things happen and how things work.
I have sat with this for some time today. I don't know. When I look to direct experience, I don't feel an answer to this question. My thoughts tell me that I am responsible for exploring this deeper, and to resolve the "old mode", but there is also a feeling that choice and control are not what I thought they were prior to this dialogue. I don't fully know how to reconcile this.b) What are you responsible for? Give examples from your own recent experiences to how this works.
Thank you,
