I want you to look more closely, with attention and focus. Imagine that your life depends on this process. No answers should come from thinking, as we are exploring ‘thinking’ itself.
I can't observe the observer
What is that which tries to observe the observer?
I don't see that and I want to but I can't back up that far or go deeper.
What is it that tries so hard to see? What feels that it “can’t back up that far or go deeper?”

Look hard, JANE. Walk around a park, sit down staring at a wall - i don't care. Commit fully and look.
YOU CANNOT KNOW YOURSELF. YOU CAN ONLY BE YOURSELF.

Nothing , observing is just what is happening.

No one, it is just seeing happening. It's not a me looking it is just looking happening.

What is "JANE" in direct experience, right now?

Do this experiment, Jane:

While you are typing the keys on computer, or watching a movie on a TV screen, focus and observe - What separates "you" and "laptop/tv screen" in visual experience in the present moment?

It feels like 'I' am inside and 'everything' else is outside. What separates the experience as 'inside' and 'outside'?
YOU CANNOT KNOW YOURSELF. YOU CAN ONLY BE YOURSELF.

Typing is what is happening and there is no Jane doing the typing it's just what is happening.

Nothing, it all is just what is happening.

Nothing is separate but is just being what it is as it is.

Can you please elaborate this reply, Jane?

Since I wrote the first statement of " I am on the inside and everything else is on the outside" I have seen through the illusion of a separate self. Saturday morning it became clear that everything is connected. That giving thought to objects makes them separate.

The feeling of "i' is that which separates the experience as 'I' am here inside and everything is 'out' there outside. The feeling of a separate entity called 'Jane' that resides in the head seeing out through the eyes an outside world--is only a thought, a construct. Is this seen clearly?

In direct experience,
Is there a seer (Jane) and the seen (objects)?
Is there a hearer (Jane) and the heard (sound)?
Is there a taster (Jane) and the taste (any taste)?
Is there a toucher (Jane) and the touched (any sensation)?
Is there a thinker (Jane) and the thought?

In a nutshell, is there an 'experiencer' that 'experiences' stuff (taste, smell, thoughts, sensations)?
YOU CANNOT KNOW YOURSELF. YOU CAN ONLY BE YOURSELF.

Yes, It's only feeling and thoughts coming and going.

There is no experiencer that experiences stuff only experiences happening as life is happening.
Seeing happens, hearing happens, tasting happens, touching happens, thinking happens and it no longer happens to anyone, it just is "happening". There is "no one" it's happening to, now that the attachement to the story is gone.

Well, now that there is an understanding of the paradox (using 'self' to find itself and realizing it never existed)

Is there a freedom to choose in experience? Is there a freewill?

Is there control of experience? Is the movement of arms or walking to kitchen to have coffee happens because 'someone' decides to do so?

Does others have freewill and control?

write to me what comes up. You can experiment some activities in your daily life, observe how movement, control, decision making happens and then reply to me.
YOU CANNOT KNOW YOURSELF. YOU CAN ONLY BE YOURSELF.

I don't know how it happens except in the moment it's life happening

Has it been clearly seen that there has never been an ‘I’ that could control or own life or anything?

Is there a 'you' that started this investigation?

Has there ever been a 'you' doing anything?

Any confusion at all or anything that needs to be addressed? Remember, there is no time limit and I am happy to help if there is any confusion at all.

There has been confusion but was realized as confusion happening and thoughts happening.
A lot of joy in this experience now , thank you for the help .

thank you, Jane.

As a next step, there are further six questions to ask as part of this guiding process. The response is then shared with other guides. They may or may not have further questions.

Once it is confirmed by other guides that seeing through the illusion of the self has happened, our conversation in this thread will come to an end, however you won’t be left alone. There is a whole community of others on FB, who have also seen through the ‘self’. Actually, there are several groups to join.

So here are the questions. Please answer as clearly as possible and with as much detail as needed. Don’t forget to add everyday examples from your experience for question 5.

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?

2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.

3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.

4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

5) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.

6) Anything to add?
YOU CANNOT KNOW YOURSELF. YOU CAN ONLY BE YOURSELF.
