Re: Looking for a guide.
I know some of the terms you state, but that is not for this guidance.
However, I (or someone else) would be happy to discuss this further with you outside of the forum.
We have many Facebook groups set-up for such exploration and discussion.

Re: Looking for a guide.
I am not settled, sorry if it sounds disappointing. There is an urge to know wth masters meant by all those fancy words: dharmakaya, nirvana, nirvikalpa samadhi, arahantship and all that stuff.
Not at all - No disappointment here.

Re: Looking for a guide.
Hope it is understandable. :)
Absolutely, and you show excellent understanding.
Are you settled at this point?
Do you have any further questions?

Re: Looking for a guide.
You have realised that 'I' is an idea, a thought.
What about 'others'? (Other people).
So there is a wanting to be an arhat
And the assumption there is that there is a real 'arhat' that exists outside of thought.
You assume there is because 'you' want to become one.
Is there?
Is there a 'you ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
I have always looked up to arhats and always wanted to be one. So there is a wanting to be an arahant. Obviously it's the same 'I' that wants it.Can you explain? There is still wanting arising in me despite this understanding.

Re: Looking for a guide.
Well we can keep looking for as long as you want to.
Speaking conventionally, I have not experienced a cessation of thoughts in realising this.
However, many thoughts are now simply witnessed and let go of immediately as 'just a thought appearing' and are not hooked on to or automatically beleived ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
Why is a cessation of thoughts expected?
Coz there was an idea that the imaginary 'I' will feel good. hahaha.
Who or what is it going to benefit?
Goooooood question. This diseased 'I' keeps wanting to be acknowledged :) hahah, it just won't die
Who or what wants thoughts to stop?
An ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
Is it realised, then, that 'cessation of thoughts' is just an expectation?
Also, is it realised just why that expectation may not be fulfilled?
Yes it clear that it's an expectation but I don't know who can answer whether it can be fulfilled or not. Maybe it can be, I suspect though it may be ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
Complete cessation of thoughts is impossible, sure, but thoughts related to an imaginary self should cease once the realization is complete.
Cease for whom?
And why?
Cease for no one. Why? I understood it that way.
To put it another way, are the seeking thoughts a problem?
VERY GOOD QUESTION ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
These seeking thoughts and ideas (they may still continue after realising 'no separate self) . . .
I believe they should change in nature at least, they should be less egocentric. If there is a real realization then anger shouldn't arise when an illusory 'I' is mistreated.
Do the thoughts ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
Is there still seeking? If yes, by what/whom?
Yes, there is still seeking but obviously not by 'me', by thoughts and ideas. They are contradictory ideas: if there is no one to seek then what is this seeking? Seeking arises in ideas.
What does this statement elicit now: 'No matter how well I ...

Re: Looking for a guide.
On the conventional level, I understand what you are saying - But is there an 'I', a seperate self with mindfulness of varying degrees?
Is there a separate self witnessing thoughts?
Of course not. Bunch of conditions that allow mindfulness and witnessing.
Sure. We can say that.
Is the body ...
