Hi Griselda,
I hope you're well. I assume that the more 'pushy' approach didn't work for you either; I hope you didn't find it offensive. I don't have anymore tools in my box (that I can use on this forum specifically) to help you look and to deconstruct any assumptions. So let's officially call an ...

Re: Seeing No-Self
Hi, you write:
I agree with you that 'You' and 'Yours' are not the same. But the only way to differentiate them is to introduce thought as a dividing and defining principle, which I prefer not to do in an investigation which values ONLY direct looking.

Re: Seeing No-Self
"I would not confuse the house I live in with the 'self'."
Yes, it seems you would. Because you said "I feel it [the self, 'me'] in my head."
You clearly believe that YOUR feelings or sensations are 'YOU'.
Also, you wrote, "I find that sensations are EXACTLY what make up my 'self'."

Re: Seeing No-Self
Thanks, are we using the word "self" differently?
On this forum, by "self" we mean "you" in the normal, conventional sense of the word. Therefore, what's "you" and what's "yours" are not the same; these words do not have an identical meaning.
For example, in direct experience, is "your home" "you ...

Re: Seeing No-Self
Thanks, describe that other self that you see. Is it really a 'self' apart from any modicum of belief?
I want to make sure we're communicating. We may be using words differently.
When I look at "Matt", I'm actually seeing an image (an image is not an actual self), feeling sensations (sensations ...

Re: I'm done with suffering and the human experience
Thank you, I understand and accept your response.
Willingness to question your deepest beliefs is certainly one of the most difficult activity there is, so confusion will come with the territory.
I am not upset, and my mind is open; if you really want to continue with this thread, it's fine. You ...

Re: I'm done with suffering and the human experience
Regarding your post on FB:
When I suggested that you have SEEN, although you did not yet feel a shift or an acceptance, I was trying to stimulate an acceptance and a shift. I'm sorry that method rubbed you wrong; it was not the right method for you, and the other guides at LU gave me constructive ...

Re: I'm done with suffering and the human experience
Beautiful, take your time — I'm not pushing you, just encouraging you to explore it.
It seems you have already expressed in your recent answers that you have seen what needs to be seen, but only you can accept it and verify it.
Best wishes,
M

Re: Seeing No-Self
OK, so now I'm asking you to question the belief that you have two selves. On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?

• Who is it that sees both of these selves? Is it a third self?

Re: Seeing No-Self
Thanks so much.
This exploration is based on "Direct Experience" or "Actual Experience" — putting thought aside and looking at smell, taste, sound, sensation, color, etc.
So far it seems you haven't been engaging in this kind of exploration. Are you willing to try?

Re: I'm done with suffering and the human experience
OK, the mind is bringing doubts that 'no-self' has been seen.
However, seeing has happened — the mind doesn't want to accept it.
I don't think there has been a shift. Still a self here.
• Was there ever a self there?
Compare the above to your authentic answer here:

Re: Seeing No-Self
Hi, sorry, I was traveling for a couple days.
A 'you' would not be an object of experience, it would be the experiencer.
* When you look at how things are, without thinking about it, do you find an experiencer in addition to experience?
Thanks
