Saw how the mind works, and what's behind mind: I freaked out!

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
About a year ago I was cooking, and then I SAW how the mind works, across time and space, and then that seeing opened up to show who or what was behind mind (its processes), like who was operating the whole thing. And there was nothing, nothing was running the show. The mind does its thing. That's it.

What are you looking for at LU?
After the realisation described in the previous section, I was quite scared of what I saw, or I thought I saw (no one riding the ship or in control) and so I buried myself in work. Strong avoidance. I now feel courageous enough and ready to look at the truth.

What do you expect from a guided conversation?
How to revisit this understanding of no one in charge of mind process, and how to integrate it in my life, if that's possible. I still have questions, about free will, like who chooses chocolate ice cream or vanilla? And I just let go of the idea of me? Will I disappear?

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
Meditation, mostly Vipassana and Zen.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 11
