wise guidance

Postby cynann » Tue Apr 07, 2026 6:31 am

LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this? I have been devoted to the path of awakening for the last 22 years, primary studying Theravada Buddhism and attending silent meditations retreats with a daily meditation practice. I still do not have the direct experience that there is no-one or no-self.

What are you looking for at LU? I want to perceive my self identity as awakened masters do. I feel like I need guidance to direct my mind to the "right questions" and to focus my attention on objects that will help me to feel and know the no-self that the Buddha teaches.

What do you expect from a guided conversation? Guidance to help me awake from the illusion of my "me-ness". I trust that the process will serve both of us. I think it may be an intense process and I suspect courage will be needed. I believe kindness, patience and compassion with wisdom will be woven in the conversation by the guide.

What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry? Outside of when I look in the mirror and say "not yours"-I've been doing this for a while. Infrequently, I will ask "who is looking".

On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 10
