LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
Logically makes sense. There is NO I.
What are you looking for at LU?
Seeing the No Self. I guess I have been seeking for the past few years for relief of anxiety tightness tough mornings with trying to analyze the No Self information I have gathered from books, posts , podcasts, videos etc from meditation apps to non dual pointers to now direct inquiry. I will be 58 soon and all of this has been new to me . Not sure what led me specifically to this but its here daily but clearly there is confusion. Over analysis or just researching and not knowing how to apply non intellectually. I have no one in my personal life familiar with any of this . I pass on quotes or so called theories with my amazing wife and we bounce ideas around but she is not seeking. By the way I didn’t even realize the term seeking even applied to any of this. But yeah the psychological suffering of tension and constant thoughts on seeing Truth Realty and seeing through the Illusion that intellectually makes sense be known. Ilenes discussion with John 12 13 years ago and in Febubuary 2024 stuck a cord. This Forum is great and the pointers in the IOS app have been very helpful
so far. Thank you.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
As mentioned above. I know no one personally to learn and understand from. Learning with the intention to find freedom from the illusion of self that seems to have been the cornerstone of others who write/say that provided them with .. not sire of the term but relief from suffering.
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
When Covid Started my employer provided the app Headspace. So I meditated regularly with that . I discussed with my adult son and he pointed me to Sam Harris Podcast interview. This led me the Waking Up App and book. The app had soooo many interviews, mediation teachers etc. I was unaware what I was looking for. I enjoyed Alan Watts talks and researching him led me to youtube mediation teachers. Somehow on was lead to a writer named Kat . I read her books and she had a recommendation of Salvadore Poe. I watched some of his videos and read his first book. Kat then mentioned substack which led me to Robert Saltzman and I read his first book some of his FaceBook, videos and interviews. He had on John Troy who struck a cord and that led me to your interviews.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 10
