LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
As we grow up we're taught to believe we're a separate person who must achieve certain things to be happy in life. Whilst there is a separate body and mind, there is no person inside who is doing anything. Seeing this completely is what leads to liberation.
What are you looking for at LU?
I currently have experienced moments where i see through the separate self. These moments are often accompanied with peace and contentment, however these are only short-lived. I'm looking for some guidance on working towards maintaining this state as my natural being.
Despite having experienced stillness and peace, i've never experienced oneness or that the universe existed in me. I would love to be guided into a perspective shift in which i realise this.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
I've never had a guided conversation before but it would be great if i could be explained how my current beliefs and idea of me are false. Whilst i see this intellectually, these are not my ongoing experience. I would also love to be guided into realising oneness as this is something i haven't glimpsed.
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
My experience has largely been listening to satsang as well as self inquiry in which I ask questions such as 'to whom do these thoughts occur' throughout the day. I have also practised a bit of meditation however I tend to get very agitated and hence have stopped.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?
