LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
That we are not our ego.
What are you looking for at LU?
An awakening not just an understanding.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
Gaining wisdom and knowledge from people that have had an awakening and to feel this on a deeper level
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I meditate and have practiced buddhism for many years. I have read over many different religions and spiritual practices and take a bit from each as to what feels right for me.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self? 10

Hi LIghtOne, welcome to LU. :)
My name is Bananafish, and I'm one of the guides here.
If you feel ready to start,
can you begin by telling what "awakening" is to you?
Looking forward to your reply!

Hi Bananafish :) Thank you for the welcome :)

To me an awakening would be to awaken from the dream of "self" and to realise our true nature. I think I already have had a kind of awakening in that I feel that we are all one and as I read somewhere on this forum "life just lifeing" I feel this deeply and understand it but im not sure I have seen it.
Looking forward to your reply!

Yes sure :) Its not so much an experience but more something I feel to be true in that we are all one consciousness. I can understand how the separate self is an illusion and not who I truly am and who there is just one life and that life is everyone and everything. I still dont think ive seen though :)

What do you expect to happen when that “shift” occurs?

What do you expect to happen when that “shift” occurs?
To be able to see the illusion and for it to not just be a belief or feeling.

To be able to see the illusion and for it to not just be a belief or feeling.
Could you elaborate on what that "feeling" is?
It is different from thoughts? Is it a kind of sensation?

Yeh course :) You know like when you get a gut feeling? Its like that. I dont feel like Im my name and job title etc... I feel like im life having the experience of my name and job title etc.. But I still dont think ive seen this like a lot of people mention. Even though there is no me to see it haha ;)

Umm ... isn’t that what people feel like, whether they’ve seen or not? I had never felt like my name eats breakfast and goes to work, even before coming to LU.
I feel like im life having the experience of my name and job title etc..
This part doesn’t really make sense. What is the experience of my name? Is name an experience?
But I still dont think ive seen this like a lot of people mention. Even though there is no me to see it haha ;)
Aha. You have some preconceptions about
what seeing is, according to what others say.
I recommend that you throw that image
away and start with a fresh view.
Would you tell me what the “I” or “self” is?

:) I dont think so :) If you were to ask a lot of people who they were they would say they were their name and job title etc.. For example Hi, Im Andy. Im a car salesman.. Instead of Hi im pure consciousness having an experience as Andy and a car salesman. Not sure about the name eating breakfast though, I wouldnt associate that with my being. Hi, im wheatabix etc.. :P Joking.
I feel like im life having the experience of my name and job title etc..

I mean consciousness having the experience of my character :)
But I still dont think ive seen this like a lot of people mention. Even though there is no me to see it haha ;)

Yes I think you're right :) I will try and throw it away :)
Would you tell me what the “I” or “self” is?
The "I" is an illusion. Its the ego (the separate self)

Actually, I won't say that, either ...
What is "pure consciousness"? Is that something you learned from books, or some teachers?
Can there be something like impure consciousness?
I mean consciousness having the experience of my character :)
What do you mean by " the experience of my character"?
The "I" is an illusion. Its the ego (the separate self)
What is the separate self?
