Getting Glimpses
Re: Getting Glimpses
No, the YES about no I is only medium-large medium size. There is more looking to be done. At the moment I'm not sure what direction I need to look in. [Though not finding a self behind my right ear during my friend's birthday lunch was a key to going through the gate later that night. :-) ;-) ] I think I need to rely on your experience for this-but I will be pondering the question.
Re: Getting Glimpses
Hi Jissi,
Is there any I or self experienced anywhere?
Sending love,
Ghata

Re: Getting Glimpses
About there newer having been a self-it's more like it just dropped off at the gate.
Unable to find a self. But there is a little hesitation to shout it out at the top of my lungs, a little anxiety (slight tightening of the diaphragm , which has been absent for days).'looking at that. Bu I cannot find a self.

Re: Getting Glimpses
OK-now I know this anxiety was caused by my accidentally having taken an extra allergy and decongestant pill, not by second-guessing myself.
What was seen cannot be unseen.

Re: Getting Glimpses
YESSS. There is no self! Feeling gratitude to this whole process. Hugs, Ghata.
Re: Getting Glimpses
No, there never was a self, just the same processes-dependent on causes and conditions-that temporarily coalesce to produce the felt sense of I. I don't know why it took me all day to put this together, but I prefer to let the process unfold over time, as is will.
YESSS, there is no self. There never was.

Dear Jissi,
I love your way of letting clarity evolve until it is really clear. That is the best way to make sure nothing is inferred again.
Are there any doubts or unclarities you would like to look into?
Sending love,
Ghata

Re: Getting Glimpses
Not that I can think of this morning. I want to let myself just look at the world and the objects in it and see the unfolding of things as they are. But Iwill let your question lurk in my mind and seeming any emerge. Did I tell you how happy I am?
Re: Getting Glimpses
Unclarity around the words consciousness and awareness. The other day I carified that it's awareness OF-of direct experience or thought.'I can't help thinking There's more.
Re: Getting Glimpses
OK, I think I've figured out what my question is. I was referring to what was going on when I was meditating as awareness (T), but got nudged to realize that awareness needed to be "of" something. I'm still pondering this. In one of the Articles, I came across the expression, "...an empty presence of aware knowing", which feels like a fit for my DE in meditation. So, is an empty presence of aware knowing the same as consciousness?
Re: Getting Glimpses
Dear Jissi,
it is so lovely to hear how happy you are :-)
What we are doing here is not looking for the meaning of a word but find out, whether the word relates to something that actually exists.
You already found out that you Need to be aware OF something. Let's have an even closer look and peel all thoughts off awareness. What will be left is the direct experience, the experience of the 5 senses.
Have a look at awareness. Is it something that can be seen, heard, touched, smelled, tasted?
If yes, describe.
If no, what does it say about "awareness"?
Do the same with the word consciousness.

Ghata

Great question! Awareness has gotten quite a reputation and is used in so may ways that it is really hard to know what it means. The same is true for consciousness.Unclarity around the words consciousness and awareness.
