Mike, there is a term we use here: "selfing". Which is what the mind does, and which you seem to see (the naming, claiming, labeling - leading to the story of 'me'.) What I'm saying is that the self does not exist, but selfing happens.

Let's be clear and simple here. Really focus and look, at what point does experiencing becomes owned.

Without the selfing, do you exist? As an entity, as the experiencer? Not as the experience of experiencing.

Let's be clear and simple here. Really focus and look, at what point does experiencing becomes owned.

Labeling and ownership of an experiance\thought occurs at it's first recognition. Yet then I can say that's not me but it was for a moment. I can't find where"I" the experiancer is, or where "ME" the one whom fear is trying to brace for disaster is.

Without the selfing, do you exist? As an entity, as the experiencer? Not as the experience of experiencing.

Something would exist. A "ME" not likly, What would exist i'm not sure. A "being" of experiances?
I look for me and just draw a blank. I experiance quiet awareness yet it still seems "contained" somehow.
Conciousness still seems inside undefined boundries.

Just to add some more spice to the experiment...:) think of a tree. Close you eyes and visualize it. Now listen to a sound. Aren't they appearing in and as that same awareness?

All there is, is life. Call it awareness, whatever you want. Any label is just a label, not the reality.

Everything appears in and AS that. All of it, the world, the people, the animals, all, including the body/mind character labeled Mike. No identities, no selves,no ownership, no I AM, only the am-ness.
This is attractive to me at this point. I feel like I am about to absorb this.
Thanks

I haven't had a realization or "Seeing" experiance so I decided to go ahead and act like it anyway.
Today I just acted as if there were no real past (just a story), no future (same), no "I" ME MINE".
Had a very pleasent relaxed day. No problems from fear or thoughts of this is "B.S." troubled me today.
I shall continue doing the same tomorrow.
Funny that my lunch time fourtune cookie was "Life is a verb".
Thanks for your helping.

Great! Thanks for doing this with me :)

This is a good exercise, to see how 'unnecessary' the self we've created really is. All it does is add anxiety and contraction into the fullness of life. While you continue with it, keep observing when the "I thoughts pop in, thoughts of I, me, mine, claiming experience or trying to draw you into the story of you. This way, one can really SEE how we construct the self through thoughts.

Also keep an eye on how much of body functions and activities are done automatically by the body mind. Eating, walking, breathing, waking up, and so on. Without even apparent controlling.

Do report on how it's going. Thanks.

I am about to leave for my yearly physical exam. This will be interesting.

What an odd day. All OK, no frictions, everyone is extremly pleasent and helpful.
Now I'm afraid that the only times I'll need to be reminded to focus on this issue is
during a crisis, which I don't care for. What can I say here? I'm happy, I'm cooking beans.
I Sat in the sun today and the house is clean.
Everthing seems to be on automatic. I've had the thought today what should I do now?
Then I remember the video about the brain and choice and said well lets find out what I chose.
I'm very relaxed here, just this is kind of different. I'm not complaining. I still have a sense of me here. I still have to encounter others. I don't know how else to describe this. All OK for today.
I ME MINE is confusing now. Having a yes\no\haven't got a clue response.
Thanks

Mike, you need to FOCUS and LOOK. Relaxed states are all very well, but we're not looking for states. We're looking to see if you exist. Back to the "self".

Please look at your direct experience and see. While reading and typing, really try to find the "I". What do you find? Is there anyone "doing reading", what's haPpening as you type, etc?

This 'method' only works if you read the questions, focus and look at where the question is directed, and tell me your observations. It won't work if you get all drifty and "look at the stars". That's all fine, but time enough for that later. Consider yourself hit with the zen stick. :)

More, Mike. Please.

What is happening when you are reading and typing? What is actually happening, tell me the process. Something must be happening for the words to get there :), even if you don't find anything.

vision of words on a screen, I know their meanings, I type responses, not sure how but easily.
I don't know how all this is done.
Yet it seems personal.

Can you find the "I" that knows the meanings, that is typing? Look for him, what do you see?
