Play with this, follow the expansive feeling, and let me know in a day or two how you are getting along.

What will be different when you realize there’s no separate self?

What do you expect to happen as a result of this?

Good morning,

[What will be different when you realize there’s no separate self?]
It will be end of the suffering, not the pain but the mental suffering which comes with identification with separate self.

[What do you expect to happen as a result of this?]

Life will be much more enjoyable and will be freedom and more aliveness.

Thank you and sorry I know I keep going in circle 😔

It isn’t a circle. It is just fine.

Take a look at these expectations now. Mental pictures about the future. “End of suffering.” “Freedom.” “More aliveness.” These are stories, more subtle seeking. It is the self structure preserving itself by postponing, by painting a better tomorrow.

Look very, very closely:
What is suffering made of, right now?
Is it ever more than a thought-story + sensation + belief it “means something about me”?

mental suffering which comes with identification with separate self.
In this moment, can you actually find suffering, without a story? Can you find suffering apart from the expectation that something should be different?

What happens if you let go, even for a moment, of the expectation that “awakening” should bring you something?

Who is it that wants things to be different?

If “freedom” means the end of needing anything to be different, what if ‘you’ stopped waiting for that “freedom” to arrive?

No, its just a story.

Actually no, no suffering unless I think about it in mind.

Nothing happens. Just a feeling bit lighter.

Its the separate self who wants things to be different.

I will try to stop waiting for the freedom to arrive.

Thank you

Hello Nitima,
Actually no, no suffering unless I think about it in mind.
Beautiful. So suffering is thought-based.

Now,
Is there a ‘you’ who is in control of thinking about it in the mind?

Nothing happens. Just a feeling bit lighter.
The light feeling is a good indicator. :)

I will try to stop waiting for the freedom to arrive.
Notice “will try” is back in the same loop of future. This whole seeing can only happen now. Freedom can only be experienced now.

Look, in this instant: Who is it that could “try”?
Is there anyone there, in direct experience, who can do anything?

Much love,
Becca

Good morning and happy new year dear Becca,
there a ‘you’ who is in control of thinking about it in the mind?
No, there isn't but looks like I still havent seen this clearly yet.

You are right.
Look, in this instant: Who is it that could “try”?

Yes, looking. Intellectually I know there isn't one but I think deep looking still needs to happen to close the loop.

So, looking ......

Best Wishes and highest gratitude 🙏

Happy New Year! :)

Is there a self that is thinking “I still haven’t seen this clearly” or is it just a thought?
