Hello Sandra,
My house is empty of teenagers again,I can dedicate more time to the enquiery, and write to you.
You asked for "something" for us both to look at.
Today there has been the appearance of feelings of restlessness and discontent. Oh Noooo!
I haven't seen those guys for a while!
Now I'm writing it I'm laughing, coz it seems a bit ridiculous.
Please can you tell me from your experience, do you still have feelings such as these? I understand that these feelings turn up, hang around, and leave. But there is still an identity that doesn't want them!
There is the understanding that the separate identity called Shannon does not really exist, because when looked at IT IS NOT THERE. But it often takes looking to see this. With Batman, you know he's not real, and you never have to check again, job done!
Will spend some time observing, will write more later.
I really appreciate your continuing to stay with me on this. X.

Hi again, I have just had the entertaining experience of getting a snake out of my kitchen! There is nothing like these intense moments to appreciate the immediacy of life! There is no wondering about cause, action and choice. Just dealing with the situation in the present.

The feelings of restlessness and discontent went away, as all feelings do. But I would still like your insight on this.

At times my understanding of what is real and what is not, is clear, this brings with it a feeling of relaxed well being, an appreciation of the moment that is happening. Then I feel my work is done.
Other times there is more involvement in the "story"-"my life", which usually bring about less pleasant feelings. Then I feel "I" still need finishing off.
Good night, I hope to hear from you tomorrow.

Good morning!
I have at times been struggling these last couple of days. There are some quite strong practical issues I am having to deal with about my property, rights to access, water, legality, etc.
This morning when looking, it became clear that thoughts and sensations were happening in a great sense of... Nothing! Very liberating insight.
How can my perception oscillate between reality and illusion like this, when reality has been seen.

I know you are back at work, and I understand that you may not be able to write to me as often as before.
Sending love, Shannon.

Hi Shannon, I'm glad that we are talking again.
Today there has been the appearance of feelings of restlessness and discontent. Oh Noooo!

That's really funny isn't it? We believe we are a I, then we look and - amazing! - we see there is no I and in a way everything is the same... and there can appear thoughts asking questions like "if I’m through with this illusion why am i felling the same and having the same thoughts? I want things to be different!!!".

Well, if the I never existed and things were as they were how could they change dramatically?
That seems to only happen to a few persons - Eckhart Tolle and Byron Katie, for instance - not with the majority.

You ask how it is with me. I can only talk from my perspective at this moment (all is changing inevitably - life is all about finding out...). There is more freedom from the bondage of self. More 'I don't know' space. More 'I don't care' space. Less 'me' and more of 'this'. I still have basically the same thoughts and the sense of being remains, as a very familiar "coat". And that's all OK. I can look at all this and see that nothing of this makes an I real or comes from an I. Life goes on - I'm still chopping wood and carrying water - but the movement of searching is losing its impulse and I have more awareness of moments without thought (maybe they were always here but the capacity to 'feel' them wasn't).
This morning when looking, it became clear that thoughts and sensations were happening in a great sense of... Nothing!
Exactly. That is also what I find when I look... nothing!... and everything comes from nothing and goes to nothing and it isn't even that - there are no words to express what is.
I have just had the entertaining experience of getting a snake out of my kitchen!
That sounds funny :)

Yes, I did. We can look here:

is the sense of self a real you?

is an identity a real you?

Sending love, Sandra

Hello Sandra,
"Is there a sense of a real you?"
In this moment the only sense of a "real me" is the understanding that I exist. This has nothing to do with any story of my identity, it is the receiver/perceiver of senses and thoughts.
"Is an identity a real you?" Clearly not.
I am speaking only from this moment. You can see from my last posts that there is some identity with the "identity" at times.
I will write some more later.

In reference to the statement about "real me". Without this receiver/perceiver, there would be no experience at all. It is also seen or experienced as the "nothing" I wrote about earlier. Therefore I could say that the "real me" is nothing.
The experience at the moment is quite neutral, nothing missing, nothing wanted, not cosmic, not crap.
Will write more later, unless I go to sleep. X.

I do nothing, nothing happens. Things arise in this and disappear. Like the idea to turn on my computer and write this.
Reactions to situations happen, like I have just shoo'd the chickens away from eating the cats food.
The idea that I have a life to manage causes discontent and ill-ease.
Will writhe more when it happens. Love, Shannon.

So an I exists and this I is a receiver/perceiver of senses and thoughts?

When receiving and perceiving happen is an I there? Can you see this I? Can you point to it?

Hi Sandra,
"When receiving and perceiving happen is an I there? Can you see this? Can you point to it?"
Of course not! Can the finger point at itself?
As I said earlier, it is a Nothing. A nothing in which all this arises and disappears. A "nothing" without which there would be no perception! Ha ha, this is great!

There has been an insight about the unclarity that was experienced for a couple of days. I you like I will explain, but it was basically about "me" trying to manage "my life". Right now I'm just going to sit here and if "my life' wants to manage me, it can bloody well try. Ha ha!

Much love, Shannon.

That's so funny :)

Well if sitting is happening, can you please spend some time writing about your clarity on this process?
Has the process achieved its "goal"?

Are you seeing without a doubt that the I is an illusion and there is nothing but experience?

Much love, Sandra

Dear Sandra, Something weird has happened!!
This afternoon I was sitting in meditation, when I had a sharp pain in the head. I thought "maybe I'm having a stroke!" (I am not prone to even mild headaches). Since then everything is infused with a lovely soft glow, and I keep laughing for no reason! I know this is an effect, and experience, and will pass, as all do. However, underneath there is a beautiful quiet certainty.
Will write later.
Love and gratitude.

Hello again.
Speaking from this moment, there is peace and a quiet joy. There is no separateness from everything. There is a sensitivity. There are thoughts commentating on this, but that's just what they are. There is no feeling of doubt, it is clearly seen what is real and what is not. I don't know about "goal" it doesn't seem relevant.
There is nothing in this moment but what is being experienced. No other moment exists.
Sending love, Shannon.

Good!

And when the contrary happens? :)

This is just a “Gate” not a finish line. Looking will go on (until it stops); "doubting" thoughts will go on - all happening without control and without a doer. Life is rearranging itself in the form of a separate entity... and we all have different hardware and software. That means very different experiences.

What we are doesn’t change but experience does. If things like pain or thought content (doubt, suffering, thinking that things should be different,...) come to the "front stage" in experience, are you still able to look and see that the you living the experience is an illusion? A thought? That all there is is experience without an experiencer? Just this? Are you seeing how simple this is?

I ask again: are you seeing without a doubt that the I is an illusion and there is nothing but experience?

Stop avoiding answering this directly, Shannon and tell me what you think about this. What is keeping you from saying a simple yes or no? :)

Much love, Sandra

Hello Sandra'
"I is an illusion and there is nothing but experience"
Yes!
There are waves passing, waves of experience. Some are pleasurable: The beauty and the "specialness" of everything, like feeling in love, (no-one here but me!). Others less pleasurable: Concern, after looking at the long-term weather; no rain, the well is low, the plants are dry.
But underneath it's the SAME, ain't nothing happening but THIS!

Wonderful! :)

Can I ask you to answer the "last" 6 questions? Do you feel ready for that?
