When I'm staying in present moment it's good, but when I'm not, the misery starts.

you mean thinking about misery starts. and of course you can not control it. it keeps going... and gets into a loop.
do you own that misery?

Well, other people can certainly point at the person who "owns a story".

The story goes on as it always did. Belief that there is a you is also part of story. This might be helpful at this time
