Sorry Stacy, I haven’t been well, thanks for asking. Starting to feel better today. Covid finally caught up with me:)

5) Describe decision & give examples from experience.

So if there is no separate self who is the decision maker….are decisions being made at all? I seem to have always needed a sense of control over life, so now that I sometimes feel there may be no-one ‘deciding’, my ego/thoughts are fighting this insight.

I ‘decided’ to go into work last night even though I am not well. Because of my tense mindset, I was scrambling around with Tasks; Schedules; Agendas….lots of ‘decisions’ being played out here but in the context of “me” and keeping ‘control’ of the situation….the perspective of the separate self.

The separate self/ego creates the imaginary “chooser”. This self structure is built around perceived “control”. But when seen for the illusion that it is you begin to realise that so much suffering comes from this false notion of “control”. The mind try’s to help by trying to maintain happiness through ‘control’ but when you inevitably lose control you realise just what a destructive construct it actually is.

The other perspective is that I have spent a lot of these last few months letting go, bit by bit, in my professional life. Some scattered planning but no desire to keep much of a schedule. It’s only now that I’m am fully recognising that everything is finding a way to get done without my need to control it. As the heart/mind shifts from controlling to letting go, the outer world seems to adjust accordingly somehow.

Glimpses of this separation dropping away shows me an interconnectedness with everything……everything as one big river flowing as life. Once you trust in it and let go of control there is no longer an “I” to decide. Choices happen in sync with something greater….. Life/Existence/God/Consciousness/Universal Energy etc

Over thinking it. Trying to convince ‘myself’ I’ve got this perhaps. I will know when the separate self no longer has a hold on me, when I’m happy with ‘less is more’. Meanwhile cutting it short will have to take on a few edited version’s before it gets to you:)

Describe intention & give examples from experience

Intention infers a motivating force/purpose behind what we do. It’s the “I” pretending to be in control of the doing. But no “I” so no doer. It’s just an empty thought process.
I used to be controlled by intentions and plans before going to work every day and life would inevitably get in the way of those plans causing much stress. Most of the time now the only intention is to let go of control and go with the flow more. Business has never been better as the imaginary controller slowly loses it grip on life.

There's no separate "self" to have any "hold" on you.

On the mend thanks but slow going. Thank you for your patience over these last few weeks.

The moment I “look” I am 100% knowing that there is no self. When I know, I expand as all. But there is plenty of movement from expansion to contraction. There is an ongoing loop of identification with objects, to then “a seeing” of the emptiness that I am.

Free Will feels like a choice can be made separate from our surroundings, as a separate entity. But there is no separate self to choose…. so who is in control of this Free Will to choose? When I contract and fall into the story of the separate self I feel that there is this Free Will but when I expand and this identification drops off I realise there is no-self in control, just the flow of life happening. The Free-Will and Choices are a seamless part of the whole.

This is normal. Have I shared these?

Sorry Stacy I should have contacted you earlier. Sickness and now work responsibilities have taken over. There has been some nice moments of presence during this time but also being too captivated by my story. It’s an experience of living in two worlds at the moment.

What makes things happen? How does it work?

Life is just happening. Everything is Energy arising and passing through. A endless river of life flowing freely without resistance……God/Consciousness/Existence showing up in each moment. Without believing in the “I thought” and thinking we are in control, we surrender and move with the flow of life, accepting‘what is’ without preference.
