Good morning Stacy,
Drink Experiment
Thank you,
Diego
intention can only exist relating to the past or future right? So its a thought and/or sensationDescribe intention & give examples from experience.
Ah, I meant to write while 'self' is believed/created, if that makes sense. Is this a typo? Was there ever a "self? "
Drink Experiment
Qualities popped up on their own, based of past experiences with these drinks. Preference developed on its ownIn step 1 when thinking about their respective qualities, did you ‘choose’ the qualities? Or did they kind of appear by themselves? If some preferences manifested, did you ‘choose’ these preferences? Or did they just pop up by themselves?
When attention was put on counting then the preferences seemed to dissolve. Preferences only came back once the eyes were open and looking at the beverages againIn step 2 when you counted to 5, if the preferences took the back seat while the numbers took the front seat, did you ‘choose’ this sequence of event? Did you ‘choose’ to shut down the preferences to give way to the counting?
This mental function felt tied to the sensation of 'me', as if "I" was choosing. An 'I' felt created/strengthened that likes or dislikes the drinks. This function seems almost ubiquitous in day to day life.Did you directly experience a mental function or faculty doing the ‘choosing’? Have you seen this function in action?
Nothing announced that it was the chooser, there was no separate entity. In step 3 where you made a choice, did you actually witness or directly experience a mental function or faculty doing the ‘choosing’? Did anything arise that announced, ‘I am the chooser’? If so, what does this function look like?
A feeling can't choose, just like a thought can't choose. Its like the 'feeling' informs, but isn't the 'one' doing the choosing.Sometimes we describe this sense of choosing as a ‘feeling’: It feels like ‘I’ did the 'choosing’. But the question is, can a feeling ‘choose’? Is it in the nature of a feeling to 'choose’?
Thank you,
Diego

Re: How do I return home
Hi Diego,
Just this...
1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
Before, you said:

Before, you said:
Is there a "self" or isn't there?no, there is simply this experience of life. There never was, just a bunch of thoughts bundled together to form this 'I'

Stacy,

No there isn't an actual 'self', these thoughts of choice and preference get confused as 'I'Is there a "self" or isn't there?
Thank you,
Diego

Thank you Stacy for your guidance!
It's been really good to work with you and have solid pointers without all the spiritual 'fluff' that can be so distracting! Hope you are well
Diego (:

Re: How do I return home
Good morning, Diego!
Welcome home! You can have crossed the Gateless Gate.
I do recommend attending the video chats linked above to support you in adjusting & getting through any doubts that may come up.
One of the guides is curious about any details on this answer, but he agrees you are seeing;
"Out of curiosity, I would be interested to hear a more elaborate answer to #4. He never really said what pushed him over. Not necessary, but I always like to know what people feel worked for them."
I try to attend the video meetings, so you may see me there. It was great to work with you.

Good morning Stacy,
Frankly there didn't seem to be a big 'push', it all feels so subtle. Maybe this will clarify over time.
Thank you,
Diego
To answer this question, it would definitely be the relabeling exercise that we did initially, where sensations were labeled as such instead of happening to an 'I' (i.e. I am feeling tightness in my back, vs there is tightness in the back) which helped show that 'I' is just a label in a very direct, consistent way."Out of curiosity, I would be interested to hear a more elaborate answer to #4. He never really said what pushed him over. Not necessary, but I always like to know what people feel worked for them."
