Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from
your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.

Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from
your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
The self is an illusion that seems to be created by the brain (of course, that last is knowing simply appearing as thought in direct experience. It was not found until now some unique and specific localisation to where the 'self' can be originated giving the impression of being a whole experiencer of experiences, an unified entity which controls and watches actions). It gives the idea of being a separate and permanent entity. Nevertheless that permanent entity doesn't exist in reality. ')' am not the same today as 'I' was some years ago, nor even some hours, or minutes. Nor at a psychological level and not as physical level. The body changes in its forms, matter, personality changes. Self also is an illusion when it comes to being 'one' entity (or personality, or soul...). In fact, people act according to a complex and intricate manner. They act according to the information received from the environment, according to the expectations, prejudices, desires, fears, biological state... which are present at every moment (most of them are acting upon the 'choices' which people think being chosen by their free will, which is also a mistake, also does not exist). In fact, people act in a flow of events, most of them they don't even notice, that are as if drawn by themselves - the flow of events - the so-to-say-path of their lives.

Sure there are uniqueness, but in the deepest level, we are not different, we are life presented in the transitory and ever changing, and interconnected, form of human beings. We wear 'clothes' which are 'our' name, 'our' family, 'our' country, 'our' land, 'our' material goods, 'our' religion, 'our' politic ideas, 'our' favorite time, 'our' friends, 'ourselves' (there's the illusion), and so, and so, and so... Those are identifications that stick together, also creating the illusion of being something. As human being attributes (such as consciousness, sensations, thought, body) ... also stick together when the living organism is alive and without major dysfunctions - Also this is an illusion, not an actual observer. Identifications also create, many 'selves' (many illusions), as roles which appear according to the very role played.

Also memory - thoughts appearing in consciousness - and the stories being told trying to make events meaningful, contributes to create the illusion of the self with the remembering of past events and the wondering of future events. There's the 'time-dimension', going apart from the present moment.

Encompassing the whole illusion, there is awareness, presence. Which is not personal, nor separate, and is always there, always present.

Life and its forms are dynamic, not static.

How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.

That's not nothing special, that is as I see 'things'. That didn't change.

Your pertinent questions contributed to summarise puting it into words, something that was understood and experienced already, but I don't see any change.

Honestly, I can't say it, don't know it. It happened long before.

Do you decide, intend, choose, control events in Life? Do you make anything
happen? Give examples from your experience.

Not at all.

For example, I'm here speaking with you. Was that my choice? At some level it seems to have been my choice, but that perspective is wrong. It sure have been a multitude of facts, events, a 'flow of things happening' which have made those 'things' as they are right now.

Every example will have the same answer.

Also the illusion of a unified, permanent and separate self gives the impression of me having an intent. Nevertheless that is also a wrong perspective. It can be said that it is wrong because the 'me' does not exist, but it also can be said that intents are illusions of control. When people act, thinking they decided with their free will acting like that, they are simply the flow of life going on.

I would like to share a poem with you. Poetry seems capable to better say what ordinary language couldn't manage to express:

Daily, nothing particular,
Only nodding to myself,
Nothing to choose,
nothing to discard.
No coming, no going,
No person in purple,
Blue mountains
without a speck of dust.
I exercise occult and
subtle power,
Carrying water,
shouldering firewood.

Blue mountains without a speck of dust.
I love this line. Thank you for sharing this with me.

I had submitted your answers to the last six questions to the Liberation Unleashed Guide Community for final review. You have been vetted as an official Gatecrasher at Liberation Unleashed.

As such, you have the opportunity to participate within the broader LU community over on Facebook. There are a number of community resources there, including the opportunity to explore this more deeply if you wish. I will need your Facebook account name to have you added. If you wish to maintain your anonymity here on this thread, you may private message me that information.

Once you have responded, I have a few other administrative tasks to perform and then this thread will be locked and archived. If you wish to further communicate with me outside this thread I am available under the same name on Facebook. I would love to stay in touch.

Thank you for this opportunity to work together with you.

Joseph ♥

Thank you Joseph. My name is Ana. It would be nice to explore all this more deeply, yes.
As I didn't have a Facebook account yet - yeah, it's true :) - I just created one in order to do not loose that opportunity. Well, I guess that Facebook accounts can be as masters, they appear when the disciple is ready :) The name I give to the account was Autumn Rain. Can you please ask mé for friendship? I don't know which of these Joseph Koudelka is your account. I also would love to stay in touch!
I want to thank you for the time you spent and for the work we did together.
Love from,
Ana
