The illusion of separate self consists in believing that concepts, feelings, thoughts... are actually detached from the world, that they are not part of its continuity.
It starts when observing these concepts, feelings, thoughts... outside of the whole they are part of.
And then attributing will, autonomy... to these concepts, feelings, thoughts..., which means considering a thinker, someone who feels, a concept which determines...
This is thus attributing a self to these concepts, feelings, thoughts.
