Every day living requires that decisions and choices are made to function in the world, like what to have for lunch, which plumber to employ, what plants to put in the garden. Intentions are made to be kind to someone for example, or to stop having that toasted cheese sandwich every time 'I' go to town because it is expensive and fattening. 'I' don't control anything, except perhaps the nozzle on the hose when watering the garden, however it can't be relied upon to a work every time. What 'I'm saying is that there is no 'I' doing the deciding, choosing controlling, intending.

I need more actual detail please of exactly what the experience is throughout the different sensory channels including thoughts and when they show up in the process. So yes there is NO I but what IS happening.
Thanks

OK

So, a thought arose 'perhaps I haven't got it, after all', attached to fear. A quick search for a self happened and none was found, so the thought and the feeling disappeared. Joy arose.

A sharp pain in my hand when driving yesterday brought about the walk satin that it was unpleasant feeling. I'm assuming that entrenched habits, ways do responding are not wimped out, but with the realisation of no I will gradually diminish with the continual not finding a self

Is this the sort of thing you mean?

'Walk satin'? No idea what that was. Noticing?

and wimped out! Freudian slip? ;-)

Zoom in even more, choosing a blue or a black pen. If the I doesn't choose? What does happen?

Dear Smudge

I think I was too optimistic. Further DP is required. Although I can't find a self, there is no way I can say what happens when choosing a blue or black pen. Perhaps this is why it seems so incredibly ordinary to me.

Padmalyala, this has been seen but doubt seems to be being believed, so its good we are really embedding this insight. You already said:
The words on he screen didn't make me do it, awareness was available.
Well, it's just all automatic! Crikey. No one's making choices. The thought just thinks.
Yes, so there are thoughts, feelings, volitions all dancing and the result just happens.
This is it, but just keep noticing THIS! Simple!

So notice little examples of how the story about 'I is just a choosing' is simply a story and how in actuality things happen and thoughts either come after the event, or before sometimes and then a different action happens..its just about seeing clearly thoughts DO nothing, they are a description, nothing more, and that the illusion of I is just a pretend character in a story, like santa. keep it simple.

For me it is particulally clear when driving how overtaking or changing gear happens and no thought instructions were even there!
So keep looking at any little actions and see how that comes about in terms of whats going on with the play of thoughts, form, feeling, awareness, you have said it, they dance with no need for an I. It all happens on automatic..Just zoom in and see this dance and give some examples.

Much love.

But what if a black pen is chosen to match the drawing on the card? Who chose it? The thought arose 'don't use the blue one, it'll look awful.

Or, what?

Drinking tea,
Another sip, then no more.
Just happens

Watching the birds in the early morning and delaying other things, happens on its own.
Driving very slowly or speeding up, changing gear, as you say,
It all happens in the present and on its own.

Everything rises and falls away into emptiness!
Of course. All things are impermanent and insubstantial. At last I see what it means. It's so obvious. Even choice.
All things are by nature void! Suddenly it all makes sense. I feel like crying.
