Sit with eyes closed for about 15 minutes.
Paying attention only to the pure sensations, without relying on thoughts or mental images:

Can it be known how tall the body is?

No
Does the body have a weight or volume?
No
In the actual experience does the body have a shape or a form?
No

Is there a boundary between the body and the clothing?
No
Is there a boundary between the body and the chair?
No

Is there an inside or an outside?
No
If there is an inside - the inside of what exactly?
No inside
If there is an outside - the outside of what exactly?
No outside

What does the word/label ‘body’ ACTUALLY refer to?
I don’t know it could be everything in the direct experience. It could be the apparent share that seems to house that which is experiencing it.
What is the ACTUAL experience of the body?
None

Do you see that this answer is a train of thoughts ?

What is the ACTUAL experience of the body?
None
Look again at direct experience : what is the actual experience of the body, when eyes are closed ?

Direct experience is : seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching or sensations.

I will sit with this one tomorrow. I will take more time with this one. Thank you.

Hi Kirsty
Yes. I really don’t know what the body or where it is.
I think there is the appearance of a body there : there are colors, forms, sensations, eventually smells, ... Do you see that ?

Don't imagine that there is no body but the body is known, it cannot know, it is seen, it cannot see, ...

The body is known, it cannot know...it is seen, it cannot see. This is clear. There is something beyond the body that sees

Hi Kirsty

There is something beyond the body that sees
Yes, but it is not "something", it is not a thing, it is not substantial, ungraspable, not seen, ... Are you seeing from thus perspective ?

No it’s not graspable. It’s not separate, it’s not a thing.

Good evening

Good.
Is there still seeking ?
If it Is so what is missing ?
Feel free to expose any doubt about the illusion of a separate self ?
Are you ready for the final questions ?

Best wishes

Seeking has ended.
The only thing I understand about a separate self is that there is no one doing anything so it’s not possible to be separate. I don’t know how I’ve come to this but here I am and there’s no me doing this. The only thing I might seek is how do we know there’s no free will? That so the most liberating potential ever. As long as that is true absolutely nothing else matters but how do we know that is true please?

There is no free will. It’s impossible. I had to think for a moment and rendered my apparent past. It’s impossible.

Good morning Kirsty
There is no free will

"Free will" supposes existence of "someone" who has free will. It is easy to say "there is no me then there is no free will". Now, to SEE that there is no free will, you need to look at the thoughts and there is an exercise for you.

Sit quietly for about 30 minutes and notice the arising thoughts. Just let them appear as they appear. Try your best to COMPLETELY ignore what they are saying and just notice how they appear without you doing anything at all.

Where are they coming from and going to?
Did you do anything to make a particular thought or thoughts appear?
Could you have done anything to make a different thought appear at that exact moment instead?
Can you predict your next thought?
Can you select from a range of thoughts to have only pleasant thoughts?
Can you choose not to have painful, negative or fearful thoughts?
Can you pick and choose any kind of thought?
Is it possible to prevent a thought from appearing?

It seems that thought has some logical ordered appearance, but look carefully and just notice if there is an organised sequence? Or is that just another thought that says ‘these thoughts are in sequence’ or “they take content from previous thought”, or that ‘one thought follows another thought’?

Kind regards

Warissem

Hi Kirsty

Good observations. You have missed these questions :

It seems that thought has some logical ordered appearance, but look carefully and just notice if there is an organised sequence? Or is that just another thought that says ‘these thoughts are in sequence’ or “they take content from previous thought”, or that ‘one thought follows another thought’?

Now, about free will : let's admit that free will is a choice made between two ways of action or whatever. There is a way A and a way B. Do you agree that the different ways or alternatives are arising as thoughts and the choice itself arises as a thought ? Now that you have seen that thoughts does not need a you, a thinker, can you conclude about free will ?

Kind regards

Warissem
