Hi
Will you let me know if you're not ok with me doing the time pointers one at a time?
It is one pointer, but I suppose you can answer the questions one at a time.

Good that you're also doing ButtChair.

Afternoon,
But is there an experience of the ’now’ moving along the line of time?
I have no experience of the now progressing.

Any experience of one ‘moment’ giving way to the next?
No, nothing
Is there any actual or direct experience of one event following another?
Ah, what a question! It seems to be my experience that one event follows another. That things are happening sequentially. I'll continue exploring this experientially.

buttChair: I've got nothing. Still looking.

With Gratitude,

Guy

You got this on ButtChair:
there any clear dividing line between them? Or only the Sensation with no clear division?
I only find sensation with no clear division.
That's right. Focus on the one Sensation with no division.
It seems to be my experience that one event follows another.
Your experience? Can you point to Direct Experience? Or is it only thinking?

Well, I somehow missed yesterday. Sorry about that
I'm trying for something everyday.

It seems to be my experience that one event follows another.
Your experience? Can you point to Direct Experience? Or is it only thinking?
No! There's nothing in direct experience that says one event happens before or after another. Still, I'm letting that sink in. There does seem to be a continuity of experience ... I see that there's a thought overlay ... It's easy to see with seemingly discrete experiences, but not so clear when they seem to be happening sequentially in my visual field. I'm open to ideas on that. Maybe just keep looking? As I reread this I can see that the notion that they're discrete is also more nonsense. I think this is starting to soak in.

buttChair: I'm focusing on sensation with no division. The looking continues.

How fast is the ‘present moment’ actually moving?
It doesn't seem to be moving. Movement doesn't have meaning here.
Just look at 'this moment', can you find a point where it began?
No, I don't find any boundaries or deciding lines.

How long does the ‘now’ last?
I can't tell.
Where does the ‘now’ start, and where does it end?
When I look there's nothing there.
When does the ‘now’ exactly become the 'past'?
I'm not sure the now is related to the past or future.
What is the ‘past’ in actual experience?
A thought.
So is there actual experience of ‘time’ or thoughts about ‘time’?
Only thoughts about time.

I can't find any aspect of time that isn't a thought. Time doesn't exist in direct experience. I think I've always known that time isn't real, but still it gives me pause to not find at all.

I can see the boundary between butt and chair is the same fiction as the boundary between not-now and now. It's all thought. And I'll continue to look at buttChair.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Yes.
And I'll continue to look at buttChair.
Good. Stay relaxed.
Happy Thanksgiving.

"Enlightenment is an accident. Meditation makes us accident prone."

Sunryu Suzuki

We cannot predict it and we cannot make it happen. We can only practice the conditions in which it is more likely.

This frustrates the mind because it wants everything to be linear and logical and step-by-step, but this is not. It is non linear and unpredictable.

Drop the expectation of linear predictability. This helps create the conditions for seeing no self.

Just LOOK

Oh. I see it now!

There's nothing here. It's all concept. There isn't be a next thing, or a me. I've been looking but the answer can't be seen. Even calling it an answer is a lie.

There was no shift in identity, just no identity.

Gratefully,

Good!

How does it FEEL to see this?

We are looking for a shift in perception.

How does it FEEL to see this?
Initially a feeling of oh! Dang.

ATM the feeling is calm. Peaceful, with clarity. What's really pronounced is that when thoughts arise it's clear they're not real. This can't be unseen.

Turns out it's quiet and ordinary, familiar.

Has seeking stopped?

We have some traditional questions if you are ready. Other guides will read your answers and may have questions.

Yes, seeking had stopped.

I'm ready for the questions!

Very good. Befsucvinct Here we go:

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?

2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.

3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.

4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?

5) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.

6) Anything to add?

1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
No, that's clearly unreal. It never existed.

2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
The motion of a self seemed to start early in life. Perhaps as an adaptive tool. They're thought patterns, maybe a set of core beliefs. They give themselves credit for what emerges. Atracking and defending what doesn't exist. Now its shinanigans are clear, all the scheming and grasping. At the moment it's quiet, just peace.

3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.
ATM I'm soaking in a quiet, tranquil clarity. Before there was a fleeting sense of peace, but this is pronounced, and clear. There's something subtle about it. And a depth that I can't find words for.

I had some kind of a fantasy about what this would be like. It's not any of that.
4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?
I was out for a walk, pondering questions like what's between here and there, time and no time. And it just clicked.
5) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.
None of that is real. It all emerges from the void. There's no one here who could possibly be responsible. The cat is fed, the groceries are bought. Stuff happens and some thought process takes credit. That's it.

6) Anything to add?
Gratitude and appreciation for this process.
