Good evening Jon,

For the past two days, I have felt 'off track.' It has been difficult to focus on looking. I'm not sure why this is occurring. Today was the same, except that I felt deeply calm and centered. There was a deep stillness with me all day.

I have definitely experienced something beyond 'my ' thoughts. A 'watcher/experiencer' is the closest description I am able to come up with. It is this that sees, hears, senses.

If 'mind' is thoughts, then I have already seen that thoughts are not real. I have been unable to find a mind.

This is all I have at the moment.

Love,

Siobhán

Hello Siobhan,

.

Not to worry. You very are doing very well in any case.
Today was the same, except that I felt deeply calm and centered. There was a deep stillness with me all day.
This stillness sounds good. I wonder if it was any of the questions I asked that proved difficult to work with? Do let me know if any of them were confusing.
I have definitely experienced something beyond 'my ' thoughts. A 'watcher/experiencer' is the closest description I am able to come up with. It is this that sees, hears, senses.
Very good! The sensing happens and thoughts do appear. These are experienced but where is the experiencer?

Could it be that these sensations are Direct? In other words, that they happen but not 'to someone' and are really experienced but not 'by someone'? Take a look.
If 'mind' is thoughts, then I have already seen that thoughts are not real. I have been unable to find a mind.
How does that feel? Is it a surprise?

Thoughts really do appear, don't they? like announcements? or commentary ABOUT everything? Do you see that it is the contents of thoughts, what they are ABOUT that creates an illusion? So that what appears to be real within thought is never actually happening directly?

Hi Jon,

Am still having computer trouble and have not figured out how to use the quote function with my phone.
Thank you for your very helpful feedback and guidance.

Another day of deep stillness behind my activities at work today as well as a feeling of openness/receptiveness and
noticing that things were flowing through me. I wasn't trying to control anything. I felt very fluid......like things were effortless.

I would like to give more of a response to your questions,
however, it is difficult to do so using my phone. More to come.

Love,

Siobhán

Hello again Jon,

It was not really surprising to discover that there is no 'mind', since I had already experienced thoughts are not real.

I am experiencing this body as a separate organism that enables 'Source' to experience. It is what I am calling 'Source' that you are calling 'Direct' experience. Through the limitation of the body 'Source' is able to experience Itself. This is what I was calling the 'watcher,observer/
experiencer.

OK.

Separate from what?

What do you understand by 'direct experience'? Please explain it as you understand it, as clearly as possible.

So there is still an idea of something, 'source, watcher, observer, experiencer'... experiencing everything through 'a body'?

Hello Jon,

I understand and see everything as 'Source.' The physical body is made of 'Source' manifesting in the material world
so that Source can experience Itself. I see the body as temporarily appearing separate to enable this to happen.

My understanding of Direct Experience is 'Source' experiencing through the senses, without the ego in the way, without thought. For example, hearing, tasting, feeling. I don't understand how this can be done without a physical body to sense with. What am I missing?

This is not quite the same as my understanding of 'direct experience'

Please look at the immediate experience of sensations, is this conceptual or experiential?

Does a feeling of warmth in fingers require a theory of what it is or how it happens to actually just happen?

Does an experience of hearing bird-song require any label to be heard?

Are thoughts that appear 'your' thoughts?

Does it seem that thoughts appear, very much as sensations appear?

In some thoughts do you find there is an appearance of a 'me, 'thinking' or 'typing' and an impression, of a 'self'?

For example, hearing, tasting, feeling. I don't understand how this can be done without a physical body to sense with. What am I missing?
It isn't my intention to suggest that there are not a lot of sensations that in everyday language are assumed to be and called 'the body'. The sensations are all real enough. But 'body'? To arrive at 'body' some assumptions have to be made:

For example (and these should be tested):

Do 'legs exist' when looking up at the sky? (other than as an assumption that they must)?

Place a hand on a table and close the eyes A sensation is felt where 'hand' and 'table' meet. Focus on that. Perhaps it is a sensation of warmth or slight pressure? Now, is there 'a body' or 'a hand', experiencing this sensation? or is there simply the sensation?

Is there an experience of 'experiencing this sensation through something', or is there just sensation (with thoughts appearing too, possibly)?

Good morning Jon,

My computer is up and running again, however, I have not been able to figure out how to use the 'quote' button, sorry!

So, my experience, and either I have not been able to clearly describe it or I am simply off track still, is that the purpose of the material world is to enable God, Source, Life or whatever one wants to call It, to be able to experience through matter.
I have now experienced that there is no entity or a sense of a 'me' inside this body. This body is an organism that God , Life, Source experiences through. There is no 'I' inside the body experiencing anything because there is no 'I.' There is no I anywhere, there is simply Life experiencing Itself through everything. I know I must still be missing something.

Love,

Siobhán

You ask if legs exist if I look up at the sky. Yes they do and no they don't. If I close my eyes nothing exists except sensations.
When I put my hand on the table my experience is simply a sensation of feeling not that there is an 'I' inside this body that is feeling something.

Hello again Jon,

I just remembered something I wanted to tell you. When I awoke this morning I remembered having a dream during the night where something was bothering me. I cannot remember what it was, however, it wasn't anything serious. I remember whatever it was it seemed to be something that was really bothering me. Then, all of a sudden I remembered that thoughts aren't real, nothing is real so I could just let it go. And I did! This was all happening as part of my dream.
When I awoke and remembered it I felt it was significant.

I respect your thinking here however, isn't this deductive reasoning, a philosophy, ontological or theological position?

If I attend to various sensations as they are experienced in the moment it does not seem possible to infer or deduce anything about the purpose of intent of these beyond the considerable mystery of their appearing.

What is your experience here?

(Great dream, by the way).

Hello Jon,

Yes, that is indeed what I was missing, another belief!
So deep rooted that I missed it. Thank you.
I must let go of even this. I will let you know how it goes.

Love and Blessings,

Siobhán
