1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
Upon close examination, there is no separate entity.
2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
The illusion of a separate self seems to arise when there hasn’t been a close examination to see where it is, what it is, how it operates. Once you really look, you see that no entity can be found. We seem to wander around in a daze without this looking, taking on all sorts of guilt, pain, confusion.
3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.
It creates an openness within. It gives a feeling of connectedness to something totally unknown and unknowable. There is a greater sense of lightness.
4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?
I have looked many times but this was done in a slightly different manner. I can’t explain it, but more spaciousness and openness came with this looking and a greater feeling of confidence.
5) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for?
There is only thinking and doing happening. They might appear as decision, intention, free will, choice and control, but they are happening without a localized entity.
Please give examples from recent experience.
I especially liked the exercise about raising the right arm and noticing that the thought to raise the right arm actually came after the right arm was raised! I have been watching how thoughts about something that happens actually arise just after they actually happen!
6) Anything to add?
The confidence comes not from thinking that I have figured something out, but rather from knowing there is no one that CAN figure anything out!
Upon close examination, there is no separate entity.
