I guess the sadness came from letting go of something familiar. Although there wasn't anything to truly let go of. I think there has been a lot of surfacing emotions during this process that had been buried. The sadness has passed though.
I guess I imagined discovering that there is no separate self would come with a firm, intuitive conviction and sometimes I keep getting caught up in the story of amber that I forget it's only a story and not me. The whole "intellectual vs experiential" thing comes mostly from what I've heard others say before, so it's only a concept that has been taken as a belief in what to expect.
