I just read "awareness is all there is" and that seems true too. Maybe I just can't explain what awareness is in a way that would be satisfactory. I don't think awareness is just a thought but i sense that you will keep asking what awareness is and I don't know what to say anymore about it. Is awareness the ground of all being? Consciousness becoming conscious of itself happens within awareness.Hi. :)
What makes you use the word "persistent"?

Re: Standing in the light
Hi. :)
While you say there is no more, there seems to be a bit more to come up, like "the ground of all being."
Pease let everything come put of the idea about awareness.
And please tell if this is too uncomfortable an observation; in that case, we could take
other approaches.
Warm wishes,
Kento

Re: Standing in the light
A lot of what I have said about awareness is based on what I have read about awareness. From direct experience I think awareness is like a blank slate. Nothing happens without it. I guess what I mean is that everything that happens is happening on this blank slate that is awareness.Hi. :)

Hi Kento,
I have known that what I am is something that doesn't change but I wasn't sure what that thing was until I connected it with awareness. Awareness doesn't change which means I am awareness. Awareness was the same when I was 5 years old as it is now. Awareness connects everything.

Hi. :)
What it that "I" and "it" and "awareness" in this sentence?
Could you tell what each is?

For awhile looking inside I was finding nothing/emptiness. I guess by "I" I mean my mind. It is the self or the vast nothingness. And awareness is what is prior to everything I perceive or the blank slate. I like the analogy of the sky.Hi. :)

Hi! :)
Which part of this quote is not a concept, or not something you have learned from a book, video, or someone?
Which part is your original description based on your own experience?
Warm regards,
Kento

It depends on what you mean by concept. It is my direct experience that when I said "I" I was referring to my mind. It was the nothingness that I felt to be me. And awareness being prior to everything I experience like a blank slate. I heard the sky analogy from a friend.
Thanks,
Jenny

Re: Standing in the light
Hi Jenny. :)
Could you tell what the direct experience of nothingness is? Can you experience
something that is not? How?
Can you directly experience something prior to experience?
How?
Would it be possible that you are not aware you are taking mere concepts
as direct experience? That can happen if one is so immersed in a belief in something
that the belief has become another "reality" for that person, which happens to be a sheer illusion.
Please read through all that you wrote about "awareness," and see how much of them
are something that you haven't learned from what someone else said about "awareness."
Please doubt, and tell if you are 100% sure that all you are
talking about is something that is directly perceived (as your own experience, not
something someone else said) as either something
seen, heard, touched, smelled, or tasted.
My general feeling is that all you are talking about are someone's second-hand concepts, and
we wouldn't be able to go anywhere further if these concepts are held onto ; you have to be truly
wishing to discard all those concepts you have written so far about "awareness."
Please tell how you would feel if everything you know about "awareness" turned out
to be a mere intellectualization. Would it be possible to throw it away?
Warm regards,
Kento

Re: Standing in the light
We can start over with awareness if you think that would help. In October when I realized that what I thought of as myself was just a thought, I felt like I dived into nothingness for awhile. I heard Rupert Spira talk about awareness and it caused another realization. It's like there is nothingness but its conscious. It feels more spacious. Things I used to read and intellectualize mean something different to me now.Hi Jenny. :)

Re: Standing in the light
No Jenny, we're not talking about a experience in the past. We are talking about what is
now, here in this moment.
And we are talking about you, not Rupert.
What is awareness, without all these memories and something from Rupert, Bob, or
whoever it is?

Right now awareness is consciousness of thoughts, feelings, and sensations.

Re: Standing in the light
When you say "consciousness of thoughts"
what is "consciousness" in this phrase?
Are "thoughts" and "consciousness of thoughts" different?
