When I sit with that, reconciling the assumption of knowing and the lack of proof is definitely part, if not all of it. A part of me that believes there is something here, so dismisses the fact that no self has been found. A thought that says I must keep looking. That part that “knows” is gonna have to be worn out I guess?
My instinct after working with you on this is to look for the one who believes there is something here?
Yes! I have been looking for the sense of self in the feelings of confusion. Where is the one claiming “confusion”?
You could also examine the remaining sense of self.
What is the part that "knows" and needs to be worn out?
We only have to keep looking. The rest is not up to us. It's a bit like gardening. Looking is preparing the soil and planting the seed. When and if the seed gets enough sun, rain and nutrients, and finally sprouts is up to life.

I’m in a new position at work that is brining up a lot of thoughts/feelings of embarrassment and helplessness. Do I just sit with these feelings? Inquire into them? I don’t want to bypass, but I do want to get to the bottom of what is taking life so personally.

You can do two things:
1. Look for the entity that is embarrassed and helpless
2. Welcome and allow all the feelings. Let feelings come and listen to the stories that come from them. This is very simple but extremely effective.
Usually one of the two will feel more natural so listen to your intuition.

Feeling frustrated. I look over and over and over. The same thing is found- only sensation.
I’m just going to type as I contemplate. Perhaps the intention to wake up needs to be let go of. I feel this grasping and desire to control, to make life different. To make this person be what I want it to be- different… happy…, content. These are just more thoughts and beliefs. Meaningless. Yet they seem to drive this body to seek and search and never rest.
I’m tired. But don’t know what it is that is claiming tired. I look and there are only thoughts and sensations. No one is tired.

Feeling frustrated is very much part of the path at this stage.
Allow the seeking and searching. Don't try to stop or control anything.
You are doing good!
Where is the entity that wants to make life different?

Thoughts are getting tied up in knots. The thought “ugh, I’m lost in thought again”. Looking for where is the “I”who is lost in thought. The sense of “I” seems to disappear into nothing just like the thought “I’m lost in thought again”. What’s left? The looking, sensation, sight, smell, taste, new thoughts.
The sense of self is just as fleeting as any other sense. It doesn’t stick to anything. I’m chasing a ghost. What is holding on to this idea of a self? What could hold on? What is there to hold on to?
What is looking? That feels more real than anything. The thing that looks and allows all experience. But a choice less allowance

When we're young, we believe in Santa, but then we see that Santa never existed. After we realize this, do we still have a fleeting sense that Santa is real?
So what exactly is it that is fleeting?
Does an entity called self come and go?

I like this metaphor. After we realize that Santa isn’t real, there is no fleeting sense that he is or ever was real. He is seen to be a figment of the imagination. Once the belief is gone, the idea of a person named Santa is no longer entertained.
So what exactly is it that is fleeting?
thoughts are fleeting, beliefs are fleeting. A thinker does not exist, nor does a believer.
Does an entity called self come and go?
No. The self is a figment of the imagination. What does not exist can not come or go

Yes, but if there is a sense that something is fleeting, then the belief is still in place.
The remedy?
To keep looking until the penny drops on a gut level.
In that sense, don't try to get an answer, or make the penny drop, but just look each day for a while and leave it at that.
Like watering the plants and leaving the rest to life.
