Hi Jeff

Can a thought resist anything? Or is "resistance" just an empty thought?

A thought can't resist anything. It can say a lot and be very convincing if identified with but in a way, it's just an empty thought.

Is it possible for this to be different?
There's no way of stopping thoughts or choosing to have different ones so, no, just have to be aware of them for what they are.

Do thoughts cause suffering? Or is it believing the thoughts and identifying with them what we call "suffering"?
It's the believing them and identification with them that causes the suffering.

Interesting questions and making me look real time into the nature of thoughts, thinking and the suffering that can arise from believing them

Thanks

Rob

Stepping out of direct experience for a moment, is it possible for a person be aware of something at the precise instant it is happening, or does awareness happen after the actual event?

Can the state of the world be different than it actually is, or is that always just a fantasy?

Let me encourage you again to join Vince Schubert's Zoom meeting. I won't be there this time, but I usually am. His email: vinceschubert@gmail.com

Hi Jeff

A topsy turvy couple of weeks and still pretty turbulent. I won't go into details here.

Very tired and worried. Found some peace this afternoon in simply letting go, non doing and giving up the struggle.

Thanks

Rob

Good to hear from you, Rob. I'm wishing you peace in this difficult time.

Peace is available in simply letting go. The movie plays on the screen, regardless of whether thoughts say it could be happening differently (it can't) or whether they say it's good or bad (it's neither, it just is).
