I am so with you on this 😵😴! I may not know what on earth you mean by 'grub hub' and 'door dash' but tiredness is something I totally understand!

So.... I'm not going to quote you here as it was all a bit of a muddle (😂) but this is what I think you wanted to know:

I went back to the exercise and allowed myself to fall out of focus so I could see what happens to pull me out of the rabbit warren. Well that's not so easy to explain.... in order to pull myself out, there first has to be a conscious effort to notice that 'I' have fallen into the hole and then a lot of purposeful energy to 'wake up' again and focus on sensations.

I don't know what to tell you...I think I identified that one goes back into 'I' mode in the rabbit hole so perhaps it's not 'I' pulling me out and away. But... given the obvious conscious awareness of having fallen in which then is determined to pull me out, I can't say that there is nothing or no-one doing that because there's a lot of energy to wake up, pull out and focus and in that it seems a conscious decision has been made, whether that conscious decision comes from me, or is just a random happening, I couldn't say but it seems like a hell of a lot of conscious processing to come out of nothing. So I'm a bit stuck here 🤔🤔🤔.

I hope you aren't getting run ragged Stafford 🙏. I also hope that you manage to find peaceful moments with your nearest and dearest in these coming weeks.

You've said discussing self inquiry is beyond the remit of LU yet you've said that I need to know about it and I still don't know now what it is I'm meant to be doing. It's as if the thread of the work we've been doing has been dropped.

I know that nothing happens as a result of a 'self' but where are we now in the work we are doing?

So are we going to work on the answer I gave you about dragging myself out of the rabbit hole back into a wakened state or is it just that you say I need to know about self inquiry and that's it?

Please forgive my late response - things have been a bit up and down in our lives. I have a wonderful partner whom I love deeply. However he finds accumulated stress difficult to handle and everything is fine until the straw that breaks the camel's back and he can become a bit difficult and starts talking about hating life etc. I'm applying a lot of what I've learned to the situation which is helpful but the emotion that shows up is still uncomfortable to experience. Anyway, it's all understandable - new home, a difficult neighbour, depressed dogs all days before Christmas - not easy for anyone at the best of times!!!

Soooo.... the exercise you set me

In your direct experience, is there a separation between you the rabbit hole & a wakened state ? I hope this brings use back in felt experience ?

is interesting and has had me trying and re-trying or rather sensing what is there.

There is sitting, there is the breathing and sensing then thoughts come and there is an exploration of 'I' heading off into the rabbit warren of self and self stories. Then there is a moment in which realisation occurs that 'I' must stop and wake up. Then focusing happens again.

In all of this the only apparent separation is in knowing or thinking that a shift has been made between one state and another. In actual experience there is no separation of anything, only a knowing that there is a preferred state in which to be but the being in each state is all one.

Hmmm... this has been really interesting to explore. Thank you dear Stafford

While I'm waiting I just wanted to run something by you.... When I was very little and sat in a bath full of water I would run the water through my fingers and say "yes you're on top but is there anything below you because it looks like there's nothing there". Now we all know that there are litres and litres of water in a bath so it must all take up space in order for it to reach a certain level in the bath. However, I could never get clear that the water I dribbled through my hands was also at the middle and bottom of the bath.

This must be a very weird comment but I only ever believed that the only water in the bath was the 'layer' that I could run through my fingers. I'm not sure if this is pertinent but, for some reason, I thought it might be.

Anyway, I look forward to your comments on my previous post as well as any thoughts on this weirdness😂😂😂.

So speaking about relationships. Wow I've been with my Lovely Wife for twenty Years & it has Totally reflected This Truth so many times !!! For instance if We get into a disagreement, We can never prove Who's fault it is & or neither one of us is ever wrong or right !!! And it's never about me or Her even when it is, I don't know if that make any sense but it's crazy !!!

I do get this ☺️. Mat and I have been together 24 years. We had an amazing, joint spiritual experience when we first got together. If it hadn't been for that I don't think we'd have stayed together as the first 7 years were really tough going. Anyway, Mat made some huge changes and now (I really don't know how he's done it) he's like a Buddha. So I'm following this 'path' but I don't talk with him about it - I just try to live it bit by bit and he's generally there with me. We have some huge stressors at the moment but we tend to bob along on the sea of life and don't capsize!

Perfect because there isn't a bottom top or middle in Reality Crazy Right

So what about an apartment block? Wouldn't you say there's a bottom, middle and top. It's a tangible thing with obvious levels. How do we see this as not being there in reality?

The exercise you have given me is hard and I need you to work me through this quite firmly! It feels like there are two aspects to this question....
Part A: there are things I can say that I know and it feels like 'i' know these things such as: I know I have a sister and two brothers or I know that my dog is lying on the bed beside me or I know I'll speak to my father tomorrow. So these are factual things that I know for certain and can categorically state 'I' know this.
Part B: the knowing that seems to create my experience comes from this sort of enquiry. I focused on the previous exercise and there was knowing, a sensing perhaps. Thus knowing/sensing comes from something else deep within. It's more a guidance and an instinct that knows what is happening without the brain or any cognitive function being involved. So yes, that aspect of knowing seems to be creating my experience.
I know there are probably not 'meant' to be two aspects to this answer but that's what is occurring to me while following the exercise.
