Good evening Mike,
Please pardon my boldness, but I don't see what this has to do with my feeling of locatedness.
You can be as bold as you like......it's fine.
my question is whether or not there is a way to *feel* that it is not me
As you pointed out above, at the moment, you 'don't see.' You will need to drop all of your preconceived ideas, thoughts and beliefs in order to be able to see. Again, please note that you will not be able to think your way to this.
I would say that nothing is aware of sight
You said this in a previous post, yet if there was nothing that was aware of sight, then there would be no 'sight' as there would be nothing to perceive it. You have said that you *feel* a throbbing sensation on the bridge of your nose. If you are
feeling something then you are aware. Would you say that you are aware?

Blessings,

Siobhán

Hi Mike,
Yep. I am definitely aware
.

Yes, of course you are! So what is it that is aware of the throbbing sensation at the bridge of your nose? Is what you call 'I' the supposed entity that you think lives inside your body? Or is the 'I' that which is aware of 'you' and all of your thoughts and feelings?

Blessings,

Siobhán

Consciousness (or awareness or mind or whatever one might be inclined to call it) is the fact that things (including the sensation of myself) appear.

I'm not sure if you want me to answer these questions from the point of view of belief or experience. As a matter of belief, that consciousness is what I am, because I can demonstrate that it logically must be me. However, as a matter of experience, I am that sensation on the bridge of my nose. Consciousness is outside of me, aware of me. I experience the world and myself through that as an intermediary.

Best,

Michael

Hello Mike,
I'm not sure if you want me to answer these questions from the point of view of belief or experience.
Remember that I have asked you to respond from your direct experience and to avoid responding from ideas, thoughts or beliefs. Ideas, thoughts and beliefs are what are keeping you from 'seeing'. A fact is a belief that you think very strongly to be true. These are all concepts.

Let's go back to this statement you made.....
I am that sensation on the bridge of my nose.
Close your eyes and sit quietly for a moment, then go into the center of this throbbing on the bridge of your nose. What happens as you do this? Does this sensation expand? Does it become stronger or weaker? Do you notice other qualities?
Does this sensation appear in other parts of the body or even outside of the body? How do you know this sensation is you?
What happens to this sensation when you are asleep?

Blessings,

Siobhán
