I see. The confusion comes from my thoughts. The confusion is a thought itself and not the direct experience. When the 'I' and the confusion come in, they're both just thoughts. The 'I' that wants to analyze and explain is a label of the 'thinker', but thoughts don't require a 'thinker'. Thoughts are just thoughts. No need to be too analytical about all of this, because that just turns into more thoughts trying to label thoughts and experiences instead of direct experience. Thank you for your guidance. This is report of what? Direct Experience or thought content? Is there an 'I' to get confused? What is is that is asking to explain anything?

Good!I see.
Indeed! The confusion is a thought itself and not the direct experience. When the 'I' and the confusion come in, they're both just thoughts.
Is there any such thing as a 'thinker' in DE? Any more than there's an 'I?'The 'I' that wants to analyze and explain is a label of the 'thinker', but thoughts don't require a 'thinker'.
All right. Is there anyone in actual reality to be too analytical or is it all thoughts happening? No need to be too analytical about all of this, because that just turns into more thoughts trying to label thoughts and experiences instead of direct experience.

Robyn

Re: No self to awaken
No, there is no actual 'thinker' to be found in DE. I just took a drink of coffee, just now, and the picking up of the cup, the feel of the warmth, the taste of the coffee, all happens without thoughts. And even if there are thoughts labeling the taste of the coffee as good, there is no 'thinker' that premeditates these responses. The thoughts just come. There is no 'thinker' just likethere is no 'I'.Is there any such thing as a 'thinker' in DE? Any more than there's an 'I?'
There are definitely thoughts, just like there are smells, textures, feelings, colors, shapes, flavors, and sounds. These aren't going away without seeing through the false belief of a separate 'I'. 'I'm' understanding that all labels are just thoughts and these labels are not reality. Through direct experience when I pet 'my' dog and I think how soft her fur is, the labeling of how soft her fur is is not the Direct Experience, but the contact of the hand on the fur and the sensations before the labels come are Direct Experience.
It's all thoughts. Labels are thoughts. Concepts are thoughts. Agreements are thoughts. Ideas are thoughts. 'I' is just just a thought. 'My' is just a thought. Beyond the false reality of the 'I', even calling a stick a cane, or a a tree branch a walking stick, is just a thought and not reality. The stick exists before and without any label of what it is.All right. Is there anyone in actual reality to be too analytical or is it all thoughts happening?
I can feel a feeling of fear emotionally when I think of 'my' daughter without that label, but in reality I know that 'my daughter' is just a label. She exists without any labels and that love that I have for her that I feel, the feeling and emotion of love, exists without calling her 'my daughter'. It's absurd to me that I felt fear when I first thought about this. It was a feeling of anxiety. Almost like "I don't want to lose her!". There is no 'I' to lose. She exists without this label of ownership.

Dear Chris,
The way you are fleshing out the answers to my questions is really good - very clear descriptions.
Well done, Chris.
Can you now say with a big fat 'yes' that there is no "I?"
Sending love,
Robyn

Thank you for sharing this; fear usually comes up somewhere/in relation to some part of in this process.Almost like "I don't want to lose her!".

Re: No self to awaken
Good day Robyn.
You're much appreciated!
Chris
I wrote that wrong. What I meant to say is that all of the feeling and sensations are still there even without them being labeled or the 'I' label. So -- there is a belief that the thoughts will go away up seeing through the false belief in a separate "I?"
There is no 'I'! This body is real. This mind is real. The couch that I'm sitting on right now is real. The thoughts that come are actual thoughts, but there is no need to believe in 'I'. This concept of 'I' can't be found as a real thing with limits. Just labels, concepts, and thoughts that seem limitless and not needed. Can you now say with a big fat 'yes' that there is no "I?"
You're much appreciated!
Chris

Re: No self to awaken
Wow! Is the 'mind' just another label like 'I'?-- What is 'the mind?'
I identify the mind as the transmitter for awareness that this body along with this brain experiences. I guess I never really tried to identify it. The human consciousness experience is what I was identifying as the mind, but it seems to be just another label that is not needed. I never really examined it the 'mind' is a real tangible thing or just a concept. Conciousness is real, reality is conciousness. It's all experience, which is one experience happening. I guess the 'mind' is more so just a label of a collection of sensations, experiences and thoughts, but not a real tangible thing. Just an idea. A concept.

Well done, Chris!
Chris, have you experienced any shift in your day to day experience since seeing that there is no 'I?'

Yes. I'm more attentive with Direct Experience. The thoughts are still there, but I'm identifying less with them. I just took a nap and I've been spending a good amount of time just physically resting. In the very recent 'past' I would have beat 'myself' up over not being productive and losing 'time' better spent of something 'productive'. Today it wasn't like that. I didn't get wrapped up in thoughts and I was able to enjoy rest that the body craved more easily.Chris, have you experienced any shift in your day to day experience since seeing that there is no 'I?'
I also removed social media on 'my' phone yesterday. I noticed that Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube were taking up quite a bit of time. Social media is filled with so many 'I's, thoughts, concepts, and ideas. I'll likely return to it soon, maybe a few days or weeks from now. As for now Direct Experience is the focus. Experiencing reality. 😁

Hi, Chris,
My apologies for taking so long to get back to you!
Happy 4th if you celebrate it. Where I live, we've had delightful rainstorms on and off all day and all evening.
Chris, do you have any questions or points of unclarity? If not, I'll send you a set of final questions that will give us both the opportunity to see if there are any sticking points left to address. Are you ready for the questions?
Sending love,
Robyn

It's okay! What you do with guiding and direct pointing is amazing. Thank you.My apologies for taking so long to get back to you!
Happy 4th ro you as well. It's been a beautiful day here in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was a hot one, but still quite enjoyable.Happy 4th if you celebrate it. Where I live, we've had delightful rainstorms on and off all day and all evening.
Right now I can't think of any questions. 'I' see how thoughts are just that, thoughts. The thought of 'I' is not an actual real life person. The experience is however real, and it's the same experience that I've had since birth, before I knew how to speak a language or knew of a name. 'I' understand now that the identification that is given repeatedly in our early years eventually leads us to believe in this fictional character 'I' and whatever our names given, but they're just simply labels.Chris, do you have any questions or points of unclarity?
I've also experienced recent insight on the interconnected oneness of this Experience. The way that the human body is made of minerals, proteins, etc. from other sources and the way that the plants are made of the sun, the water, etc. It really is one amazing Experience!
Are you ready for the questions?

I'm ready! Are you ready for the questions?
Thank you so much Robyn.
Chris
Re: No self to awaken
Dear Chris,
Here are the questions.
1) Is there a separate entity 'self', 'me' 'I', at all, anywhere, in any way, shape or form? Was there ever?
2) Explain in detail what the illusion of separate self is, when it starts and how it works from your own experience. Describe it fully as you see it now.
3) How does it feel to see this? What is the difference from before you started this dialogue? Please report from the past few days.
4) What was the last bit that pushed you over, made you look?
5) Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How does it work? What are you responsible for? Give examples from experience.
Chris, enjoy and take as much time as you need for these.
Sending love,
Robyn
My pleasure!Thank you.
