I is just a memory, thoughts, past with all the good and bad. It is constructed by what the I has been taught and believed in. My character has been a lot of faults and suffering. Have been hospitalized for depression, wanting to end it all. Leaving my religion behind many years ago has given me my most freedom ever felt. I have had many auh hahs. Mainly when I put the books down and just rested in silence, nature. What has been my biggest hurdle has been this body image. How would you like to be bald when hair is the biggest obsession I've ever had. I know its thought but it still hangs me up from time to time. Did the I move the hand? No, thoughts did. It is a hand.

Hi Keith,
Here is the funny thing about thoughts, we think they are everything. And while thoughts are real, the contents may be entirely fictional. Like thoughts about Batman. We can share a lot of thoughts and story about the character, but he never really happened.
So you see a past and a story made up of thoughts. About a Keith character. Who may or may not exist in some way, you will have to determine this for yourself. Nothing second hand or unquestioned!
A thought controls the hand
Can a thought control anything?
Let's look at what we can see of thoughts.
1/ where do they come from? Do they originate from an I?
2/ can you control them? All of them? Any of them?
3/ timing is everything. Move the hand. Now see if a thought decided to move it.
This body thing, this is great. Not so much the image but the possessing and attachment to the thought "this is my body and it must be a certain way." Good stuff to work with.
The thing with the hand, try it with walking. What walks?
Is it truer to say, I walk (meaning: an I owns and possesses a body, and the I somehow decides everything and issues thoughts that move the body) or truer to say something else?
And seriously ;-) would any of us have a bad hair day if we were in charge?
Love, Elizabeth

1. Don't know. They don't come from the I. 2. I cannot control them, none of them. 3. Thoughts can start the movement, but it does not control them. The body walks or something else. Would we have a bad hair day if we were In charge. No.

So, we seem to exist in thought.
Which does not come from an I.
Which an I does not control.
And an I cannot possess anything except as a thought.
Do thoughts think?

Thoughts do not think! We intertain thoughts, give them meaning and make big stories. We let them build us or destroy us. How do you intertain thoughts since you have been doing this work at seeing all thoughts as a comedy show.

It leaves me blank! Only left in sensations, movement. Like when the question is asked, what is your next thought going to be???? Space and emptiness is there before the tapes start rolling. Wish I could come up with words not already read about or spoken of. If I could stay empty, suspend my thinking long enough. There would be more spaces and love felt. I suppose the idea is to just watch thoughts as they come and go and don't intertain them. So where does that leave me, free to watch what ever comes up or not. Be as free as my dog named buckobillie, just here.

In my younger days, camping, hiking was my passion. Just me alone in nature. Never could figure out what it was that I liked about it tell later in my years, there was no me there. Just life happening.

You noticed a gap in thought, and life continued.
So, is self present only when there are thoughts about self? Owning and possessing the experience?
"Thoughts do not think, I is a thought. "
If self exists only in thought, that is what we are watching to see.
Can that be true?
Much love, Elizabeth

That's it isn't it! There is no self unless there is thought. Just stay out of the way. We are only watching if the self jumps in to own the experience. These two questions really hit me today ,thank you.

So, we just keep watching for a little to see how it is constructed in thought, that self-construct.
Nail it down in our direct experience. Not intellectual agreement, that no longer satisfies us. So:
1/ Do we really need a story to go along with washing dishes, driving the car? Does a separate entity need to be there to get life done, or is the ongoing construction and voice in the head mostly superfluous?
2/ Can you find, in any way, shape or form, a separate entity that is running life, making choices, and owning people, objects, and the body?

No, We don't need the story going on! Its all excessive, needless noise. There is no one there running the show, making choices or making the body work. It is all on auto Pilot. I just attaches on for the ride. The FAKE.

An I claims everything. Even a MY god.
Let's take it a little farther.
We looked at how a thought attaches things to a thought construct. MY cup. My computer. My body.
Attaching concepts to a concept. A mental construct.
But it's just a world in the head. ABOUT the world, not the actual world.
Full of divisions which exist only in thought. Mine/Yours. Friend/Enemy.
All labels. Not reality.
What would the world look like without the labels, Keith?
Without the need to believe in a separate I, which does not exist?
All the boundaries the mind draws, erased?
Please look there.

Wow, Peace, Love, Bliss, Wonderment, Love, Happiness, Oneness, Total Freedom, Heaven. What a picture to behold. Erased! Seeing life as a baby but in a adult body. Blank, Empty, God - The garden of Eden. Even better then that! Wow,I feel like I have been on a vacation just sitting with all that. Actually I see we can have that, that can be us. Is that what you see often? Thank you for the vision, sure feels good to rest in that dream.

Good morning.
Yes, it's probably less tiring not to constantly patrol the boundaries of a self.
This is another thing to notice in thoughts. Where you put the fences.
This I accept as ME.
This I will never accept.
Please notice as we do this work that the boundaries you set may be arbitrary.
Like countries outlined on a map of the world.
Only a map, not the world. Only a border in thought, and subject to change.
As you watch the thoughts, please see how you construct, in your head, all the judgments and separations.
Remember, this is called seeing through the illusion of a separate self.
How do we achieve such a monumental degree of apparent separation?
You might want a long ranty rant on this. It's worth it.
Love, Elizabeth
