Hi Paul, Q it is! Thanks for the follow up and apologies for not responding yesterday as agreed.
Exercise: Three things - a table, the University of Sheffield, Santa Clause. Which is real and which is story?
Santa Claus is a childhood fable. 'He' is a story.

The University of Sheffield is a label, a story, to cover a range of things: students, lecturers, buildings, books and so on, which are real.

A table is a label to describe a physical thing, which is real.

Correct on all three.

Question: If you were to point with a finger at where "you" are - where would you point?

Question: If you were to point with a finger at where "you" are - where would you point?
This is my immediate thought/feeling when I consider this is to point out and then I imagine my finger pointing down back and round and then it disappears.

To point at 'me' means pointing everywhere and nowhere.

Right.

Question: To what does the idea "I" refer to? What is "I"?

Question: To what does the idea "I" refer to? What is "I"?
The idea of I refers to our (my) consciousness, the inner voice, the labeller and storyteller. The 'I' is the label we give it.

OK, lets dig here.

Question1: The thing that is labelled is an "inner voice" - what is it inside of?

Question2: When referring to our (your" consciousness, where does that sit?

It's not inside of anything.
When referring to our (your" consciousness, where does that sit?
It doesn't sit anywhere.

Paul-Q, I am through. Sincerely and deeply, thank you!

I am through.
OK. "Through" has a few potential meanings. Are we continuing?

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the follow up. I believe I am through the gate, but am happy to continue.

Great, then this next bit should be straightforward.

Exercise: Choose between two options, coffee or tea, a blue pen versus a black pen. Find today some moment where you have a choice. Explain how choice occurs.

Thanks

Hi Q, thanks for the follow up and apologies for not responding yesterday. It was hectic and the day ran away from me.

I chose a coffee and a black pen. These just occurred, without any involvement of my 'self'. They just happened.

Ok.

Exercise: Describe decision, intention, free will, choice and control. What makes things happen? How
does it work? Give examples from experience.

Thanks

Decision - this is the point when thought becomes action. I thought about responding to this exchange over the course of the morning, but only now did I 'decide' to respond.

Intention - this is the feeling before action occurs, before the decision is made.

Free will - this is the feeling of having choice, of having thought, which leads to intention before finally reaching decision and action.

Choice - this is the act of deciding between options for action.

Control - this is about harnessing thoughts, understanding where they come from what they are and how they are used.

I'm not sure what makes things happen. There is an energy and flow that occurs.

I'm not sure how it all works really. It just happens?

Decision is action, right.
Control - this is about harnessing thoughts
Question1: Who harnesses the thoughts?

Exercise: Describe what happens when there is control.

FYI, there are six questions we ask to ensure clarity. I am going through them one by one and will go deep to ensure you have had a chance to play with and understand the principles.
