Alright Sir Eggroll,
Actually, we will start with Assignment 1... can you do this now? Or shall we wait till you get back?
1) What are your EXPECTATIONS for this process? What do you think Awakening will give you?

Hey cosmiK,
I can do it now.
1) My expectation is that I see the illusion of self. I do not have any particular self hating thought patterns and feel fairly content about my self now, so it seems that there isn't much utility in being "liberated" from this self, but I do have certain types of performance anxieties like public speaking, and based on the testimonies I've read it seems that this could liberate me from anxieties although I still feel skeptical. Realistically I think awakening would equip me with the ability to be objective with myself but secretly I wish that awakening will completely alter my moment to moment perception so i can receive more information with clarity and therefore increase my intelligence, if this is even possible. But becoming generally more likeable, intelligent, funny, carefree person unattached to the past or the future seems like what the awakening would give me.

Hey Eggroll,
alright, are you aware of how to use the Quote function? Please get familiar with it at the link below if you are already not:
http://liberationunleashed.com/nation/v ... ?f=4&t=660
Also, would you mind sharing your first name? if not... that's fine (I actually have a purpose for asking your first name... like "I and me" "<yourname>" is a 'self' label, a clung-to reality)
Okay... so...
My expectation is that I see the illusion of self.
Yes, you will.
And, as for the rest, my friend. Please remember this throughout our journey. Expectations are attachments to some imagined future or self. They will NOT serve you. Can you agree to drop your expectations for the remainder of this process? If expectations arise, as they naturally done, note them as an expectation, and gently let them go. Agreed?
Let me know and we can take it from there.

Awesome.
So, do you have more time to do some more work, or shall I leave you with a take-home assignment for the vacation?

Eggroll,
I am not your sensei :) I am a guide, not a teacher (although it did sound like that when i said take-home assignment - lol). I will show you how to see the Truth for yourself.
Okay we will start with a simple inquiry. Please respond to what comes up when you read and digest the following:
* There is no YOU. There never was, and there never will be. *

* There is no YOU. There never was, and there never will be.
From my understanding the concept of me (My name is Nick btw) was born after I was 4 or 5 when my parents kept calling me that and I had the brain power to register that information, and from there the "Nick" was born and grew with time. Are you saying that we revert back to the experience as an infant?

Nick,
please refer back to our rules. You will answer from your DIRECT EXPERIENCE. No analysis and speculation needed, not for this anyway.
so...
What comes up for you?
* There is no YOU. There is no NICK. There never was, and there never will be *

Sorry...
I want to believe there is no me, but I hear a voice inside of my head that speaks so that must be something. And that consciousness is what is named Nick isn't it? And "I" also see from behind my eyes looking out, so what is that if that is not "me"?

All your responses are fine, as they are just responses. Just be aware of them.
You told me your thoughts to this Nick. What about feelings... do any feelings come up when you contemplate and digest my statement to you.

Well I feel its possible that there is no me but I am still skeptial since I haven't experienced not seeing it. I feel that I do exist because I am consciously experiencing the sensory around me. There are objects and then there is me seeing the object.

Those are more thoughts really Nick. When we talk about feelings, we go in to our bodies and literally 'FEEL' ok? So try that again. What do you feel when digesting that statement? Really stick it to yourself. Go beyond your thinking mind. Let it sink... really sink. What do you FEEL?
----
So, let us cover the way in which we 'know the world'.
seeing
feeling (tactile + kinesthetic)
hearing
tasting
smelling
&
thinking (thoughts, images)
basically, 5senses + 1mind. also called perception
let us also call all of this Experience.
~
do you see that at this moment, everything you are experiencing, is a combination of these 6 Nick?

Nick, please answer all questions posted.
1). how do you feel. Really let it sink, and answer again.
2). yes, it may seem as thought emotions are separate phenomena, but they are really what happens when thoughts and sensations sort of 'collide'. before thought comes in there is just experiencing. when a thought comes in, it can cause a sense of separation / duality, and this produces what we call emotion. but if you look carefully in your direct experience, you can break down all experience in to those 6 sense streams.
I am not trying to get you to believe anything though Nick, however, This is a skillful way for you to break down your in-the-moment experience so we can investigate the illusion further. play with this further. get up look around... see that it is a combination of all 6 of these, at all times. simply put, there is Experience, and we can break this Experience in to 6 sense streams. cool?
^--- it is important to get this so we can begin the REAL investigation.
