Hi Alex,
how can I make the bodily signal either stronger, or build my sensitivity so that I can detect the quiet bodily response more easily.
I don't know. Just keep being aware of it - especially when you have thoughts about "self."

Remember that truth is the opposite. When ypu recognize there's no "self " you may notice relaxation & expansion.

This pointer will help you with labels.

]
Label-Reality Correlation

There is a belief that labels have a one-to-one correspondence with something called "reality." But there isn’t. Just like it is a generally accepted belief that labels like "good" and "bad" are inherent characteristics of "things." But actually, they are not.

When you look at the word label ‘GREEN’, what is the actual experience?

Is the red color "experienced" or is color green "experienced" as the label suggests?

Do the labels have a one-to-one correspondence with "reality?"

Or do the labels suggest something else other than what is here now (red color)?

Is green-ness an inherent attribute of the "experience" of the red color; or is green just a word label on the experience of the red color?

If the label ‘GREEN’ is replaced with the label ‘GOOD’ or ‘BAD’, is the redness affected in any way as the labels suggests?

Does redness become "good" or "bad," or do the labels have no effect whatsoever on ‘reality’?

Hi Stacy

I was a bit confused by your example. If it is OK I will try and explain what I think you are saying:

Labels are universal shortcuts that oil the wheels of communication, but we get so used to using them, that we come to mistakenly believe that they are the actual thing itself, rather than a sticky label placed on top as it were.

So the large object outside, that I label 'car' is, in DE:

Seeing (an object)
Thinking (There's my car)
Sensation (warmth, from seeing my 'clean' car)
Thinking (clean)

So our mind is a labelling machine (in that its automatic) - So I think you are highlighting this for me so that I start to see the 'automation' behind the labelling, and the hypnotic nature of living in a world of labels. Useful definitely, but ultimately it would be great if I could use the labels as well as clearly seeing the ephemeral nature of a label (which I don't currently see).

Maybe I can practice seeing without labelling or thinking. I can see how developing this would be useful in starting to investigate the main label I am here to investigate, namely 'the self'.

It occurs to me that the first exercise you gave me, some days ago, was this same process. See, hear, think, taste, feel without labelling, so when I start to explore the label 'self' I will ask myself, well what exists of the self in DE?Thought: I am Alex, sensation: dense energy between the eyes. more thought: It must be Alex looking out of these eyes.

Am I on the right track here Stacy, or am I a bit off piste?

Kind regards, Alex

Yes. You've got it right.

And what have you learned that "dense" Sensation means?

And the Red/Green pointer?

Hi Stacy
And what have you learned that "dense" Sensation means?
Thought: That dense sensation means 'me'. But that is simply a thought.

I got a bit confused about your red/green pointer example. Can you put your example another way?

Kind regards

Alex

Lies are usually felt in the heart or solar plexus as a contraction that we may label as tight, heavy or tense.

In contrast, truth is usually expansive. We may call it loose, light or relaxed.
Okay "me" - a lie.
Dense = Heavy = Tense = Tight = Lie or "Body "no"

No. That is the pointer.

Start with the first question.

When you look at the word label ‘GREEN’, what is the actual experience?

Which come is ACTUALLY Seen?

Well, letters on the screen are seen (GREEN).
Colour red is seen.
Thought that says Green.

That is in DE.

Am I on the right track here - still feeling a bit confused by this example.

Red is seen.

You are only confused because you are believing thoughts and labels. Ignore all that and look

Next question:

Is the red color "experienced" or is color green "experienced" as the label suggests?

The red colour is seen and experienced, not the GREEN label.

Do the labels have a one-to-one correspondence with "reality?"

Ser? You've got this.

Hi Stacy

No, clearly not. My 'table lamp' does not exist in DE. When you say 'reality' I presume you mean in DE?

But aren't there some things that cannot be experienced in DE, but are still real? Radio waves?

Kind regards

Alex

Fun question, but it's a rabbit hole I'm not going to go down.

Notice how you understand just fine one question at a time.

HI Stacy

Yes, interesting, how one question at a time seems do-able.

On the subject of whether GREEN points to something other than red, no it does not. There is however a thought: Green.
But aren't there some things that cannot be experienced in DE, but are still real? Radio waves?
Fun question, but it's a rabbit hole I'm not going to go down.
I imagine we aren't going down that rabbit hole because LU is all about looking not thinking, and if we were here to think our way through all the mysteries of life, we would be here for all eternity.

The example and question of radio waves does seem relevant surely (?), as in my search for the self, even if I do not find it, if my mind convinces itself that, like radio waves, it may not be in DE, but it still exists somewhere then will seeing no self always elude me?

Kind regards

Alex

Good answer.
, if my mind convinces itself that, like radio waves, it may not be in DE, but it still exists somewhere then will seeing no self always elude me?
Probably but we can't be sure. The truth could still kick in your door someday
