Re: Not "Getting It"
Focus on the image of "me", the separate individual entity, is it an image or an actual entity?
Re: Not "Getting It"
Hello!
Generically, the default view is that a "me" is this body and everything produced by it, thoughts, emotions, and so on, with sensations happening to it ("the snow is making my skin feel cold," etc.). Exploring thoughts and sensations with amrita, however, showed that these things happen on their own and are not controlled or within the "realm" of a me. That, however, has kind of left me with being a body.
I realize that this being my body is thought content. Sensations / perceptions show portions of a body, and thoughts assume that this is mine and is physically me. Outside of those thoughts, though, there is just perceptions of what is labeled a body and parts of it (my hands on the keyboard, for example are within view but nothing else at the moment to label as mine).
The body identification is still there, though. Exercises on body control show me that I'm not controlling the body, either, but there still a lingering belief in those thoughts that this is me and mine.
Thanks again!

Hi Bayou,
Sorry to be late in getting back to you today.
I'm not sure you've actually answered the question, though: look again: The Body - image or entity? Which would you say?

Ok, we'll explore all this. Some of it might be stuff you've already explored, but bear with it.Generically, the default view is that a "me" is this body and everything produced by it, thoughts, emotions, and so on, with sensations happening to it ("the snow is making my skin feel cold," etc.). Sounds great, thank you.Ok, we'll explore all this. Some of it might be stuff you've already explored, but bear with it.
Direct experience of the senses would show that the body is just part of the image and experience of daily life. Thoughts speak to the body being an entity that belongs to "me" and is moving through a 3D world encountering other people and objects.look again: The Body - image or entity? Which would you say?

Hi
If I was to tell you that Santa is real, would you see it in the room right now? Can you see the difference between real and imagined?

what is this "me"?Can it be found anywhere in actual experience? Self is imagined. You can look for the real self, but can it be found?Thoughts speak to the body being an entity that belongs to "me"

Hi Seamist,
I didn't reply right away to your last message after reading it last night because I wanted to kind of sit with it for a while. If the body is discounted as being the "me" by seemingly "downgrading" it from an entity to an image, then there is no longer any place for a me to exist other than in thoughts. It seems to be a matter of just stopping believing the thoughts that claim all experience.

Re: Not "Getting It"
Though it needs to be that you know that through your own experience. That's the point of the exercises we do

Re: Not "Getting It"
In-between the exercises, I have continued watching for signs of controllership over the body and thoughts. It's pretty amazing sometimes how things just happen on their own without any thoughts, things happen opposite thoughts, thoughts happen after somethings already started happening, words just pour out of my mouth without any pre-thinking or planning, and so on. It's crazy that people don't talk about this out there in the world!!! :)Though it needs to be that you know that through your own experience. That's the point of the exercises we do
