I think you were closer to the truth here:"You" is experience as it is happening.
"You" is seeing, smelling, tasting, feeling, thinking, moving or whatever is, as it is happening.
Although it might be because you tried to fill in the "you" I implied with my question.There is only smelling... there is no ‘me’ smelling.
There is only the experience of smell.
So I’d have to say...
Experience is happening.
Or just... Experiencing.
If you now take all the bricks together:
-direct experience without a me doing it
-thoughts appearing without controller, decisions just happening
..is there room for a self? Can you distinguish between "the world and you", between "your life" and "you"?
Can anything be different than it is?
