LU is focused guiding for seeing there is no real, inherent 'self' - what do you understand by this?
I understand this to mean that the separate self, the "I" or controlling aspect, is simply a habit of mind and thought, not a physical or actual entity. Life is happening naturally without a manager.
What are you looking for at LU?
I am looking to clearly see through the illusion of a separate self through direct pointing and investigation. I am looking for kindness as i am quite new. Rather than collecting more bulky concepts or spiritual theories, I want tools to examine immediate experience directly to see what is actually here when the story of a separate "me" is put aside.
What do you expect from a guided conversation?
Kind assistance with pulling on knotted threads my mind has made up so I can know the truth not just see it but truly know it for myself. Direct focus that points me back to immediate experience rather than intellectual discussion but also providing tools so I can get there and see how.
What is your experience in terms of spiritual practices, seeking and inquiry?
I have spent time exploring non-dual philosophy, some self-inquiry, and contemplative spiritual study and shadow work. Through this, I’ve recognized the distinction between intellectual understanding and direct perception. My focus now is purely on direct inquiry investigating the nature of identity and seeing clearly thoights and having tools to know what is true in immediate experience.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing are you to question any currently held beliefs about 'self?
