No, a thought is a thought. They appear/feel the same. Thanks for being open about the goal. So, there is a stream of thought regarding a goal and an expectation.
Is there any difference—in terms of substance, energy, or the way they appear—between the thought of a banana and the thought of the goal?
Here I’m unsure of the answer. A thought itself can’t do anything, if that’s what you mean.Or to put it another way: Can a mere thought (“Something ought to happen there”) ever achieve the goal it describes?
As far as the action the thought wants to drive, though, is “you need to be in the correct state/frame of mind/etc for ‘something’ to happen”, that could potentially help if I’m not in the correct state of mind etc …
… I don’t know what it feels like to drop the feeling/thought clump of “I”, so I don’t have a good intuitive sense of whether that questioning of whether my mind state is “proper” is helpful.
I logically understand it’s probably not helpful… but the feeling is still there that says “a certain condition is required to be experientially convinced of this at least tor the first time”.
My true awake state without being fooled by thoughts of “self” can’t be conditioned on anything of course, or it’d just be another transient phenomenon… but the ability to experientially be un-fooled for the first time still “feels” to me like it requires some trick or action.
Warm Regards,
Josh
